Forgot how bad job searching was :(

Well job offer details came through today, almost certain I'll be taking it as it's a better job, better benefits, better salary (37% increase by my maths) and from speaking to various people in the industry at a company with a much better reputation/status.

Out of the country until next week though so can't do any of the paperwork until I get back.

Exciting stuff.

Nice work mate :)

Got my interview today...Not used to 2 hour interviews :o That and a test =/

Well, had the interview yesterday. Never had to do a test before :o

Interview was odd, went okay in general, they seemed chatty and nice enough. Sadly I screwed up a bit as usual as I'm all giddy if I'm talking to people I don't know in those types of situations, which makes me come across as a right **** :(

Well my friend got my job today! I have a week left and HR confirmed the position this morning. Good on him!

I think he owes me a round of ice cream tbh :p He's glad to be leaving the public sector!

Sweet, that's awesome! Hopefully you have an employee referral scheme? ;)

I'm in public sector now (from Private sector originally) not sure which I prefer :o

Well after looking for IT related jobs for months on end now, I've kind of given up and started looking for retail stuff again.

Had an interview at Wickes today. Whilst it's not what I really want, I know plenty of people that would be happy with it and at least I can keep searching whilst I earn money :)

Meh, I worked at Wickes for six months in the delivery vans, not bad really...especially when you aren't the driver!

My friend is currently in IT at a college, he's also on a not great wage and zero progression he was saying the same. Was on about going into private sector salaries def sound way better.

Hah, indeed! Sadly it's what public sector in schools is like for IT Guys, no idea why.

It doesn't help the fact i'm on the lowest scale either...well, I practically am anyway

Delvis at least you have experience within the IT sector more than most people :D

applied for 3x more jobs this morning meh see how it goes.

True chap! God knows how the other guy got the job over me =/ I just can't blab my way through an interview obviously!

Hope the job apps go well :)

Why haven't you left yet?? In all honesty should be able to get something that pays significantly better although that would involve more travel :)

Just haven't found anything yet chap...And to be honest, I'm not really liking the idea of more helpdesk jobs =/

Then don't apply for helpdesk and go for the next level up, second line or something ;)

Its all the same to me really...? I work on a helpdesk now, and never have had a 'tier' system so to speak, so I do 2nd line all the time without knowing it.

Just can't deal with annoying people and the stress sometimes.

Contemplating sending an email to the director(who first got in touch and interviewed me aswell) asking how my application/tests are progressing. Bypassing the manager who arranged my test. I'm getting anxious :p

How long would you generally wait before following up?

Week or two depending on whether or not they gave you a longer time frame to be honest

If your not working & on the dole they will pay for certain courses if your dedicated enough up to a certain amount (unless you have more qualifications coming out your bum than the size of a tape worm)

They won't exactly pay for things like N+ and MCSE's now though will they ;)

On a side note, applied for another job today, looks right up my street as well :)

Atleast you're on 20k, I basically run the helpdesk here and earn 12k. Oh and I run the website :o

ARGGGH, Why do I need to fill out your stupid registration form? It's all on the ******* CV!!!
