Forgot how bad job searching was :(

Bah just a rant a really.
So by end of month I should be back doing my summer job(s), which will keep me occupied till september. In the mean time I am still job searching and applying for career potential jobs, instead of anything I can get. But after I send off a CV i feel pretty damn useless, I want to chase it up, see what they think, get some feedback on it. I hate just sitting here waiting, just encase for once I am good enough to be interviewed. It sucks!

Also I am not receiving JSA. Left university so jobcentre requires letter of last date of student loan, phoned up when I first got the letter from JC+ saying I couldnt make the 7days deadline from date of letter, when I received it gave me 3days to return, with a free 2nd class envelope, which should have been sent out the day before ideally. So phoned up explained I couldnt make the deadline due to SLC taking ages to post out any letters.
Week later phoned up saying I have the letter but not anydates or amount, just confirming it had stopped. Turned out they had closed my case that day but guy on phone said it shouldn't have happened since I did contact them letting them know.
After phoning between SLC and JC+ to get the correct letter both refused to talk to each other to confirm details when both were asking the other place to contact them directly. In the end SLC caved and said they would send the letter out to myself. I realise that there's been a long holiday weekend but I am still waiting.
Feel like I am spending my life waiting.

its because of the ressicion, companys go bust and people suffer, its an evil circle i am afraid.

recession has been going on since like 2008 now...its getting ridiculous :p

Although on a side note I have had a few calls in the last couple of weeks...I haven't even updated my CV since my previous job to the one I am in now either!

One thing (which might have already been said) is if you're signed up to sites like cwjobs is to regularly re-upload your cv even if nothing has changed.

Recruiters when CV hunting on those sites must see the list in some sort of date it was last uploaded order as whenever I upload a new one I get a flurry of calls the next few days before going quiet again :)

So just re uplaod it once a week or so, put the date or something in the filename then just change this each time.

Aye, this does work :)

Job centre plus could help you out, im not talking bout their weekly money but the fact they will actually help you :D

They were worse than useless for me, but TBH they did recognise they were and left me be.

On another note, grats me on my new job as a Sysadmin.

Well in a not so amazing few days I've had the company I really wanted to work for say they want me, but can't say when :(

So I can't hang around for that as whilst it could be in July, it could be 6 months, 9 months, and my redundancy kicks in in June.

Was supposed to be seeing a company tomorrow in Bristol, had numerous Skype interviews with their US guys up until now. They cancelled today saying they are restructuring and are putting things off for a month.

So as it stands now I'm definitely off to be a 'senior consultant' at a large financial organisation, working as a pen tester/doing vulnerability stuff.

Fair game though buddy, nice to see you have a few angles...Maybe the company you really want to go for will end up contacting you when you start the other place :p Just up and run really! ;)

I keep getting calls for damn helpdesk jobs...it's so annoying, yet at the same time I should probably be taking them due to the extra increase in wage! :( Stupid CV! I have build, test, deployment, project and helpdesk experience...And they always pick up on the helpdesk stuff :(

I'm still not sure whether or not I should confront my boss about my wage...Just last time we spoke (month or so ago) he said there was no money...So don't know if I should bother or not, as I'm doing no less than the other guy in the office

Nice one buddy :) Hope it works out for you

I can't believe its 6 months since I was made redundant. I formed plan A architecture with an ex colleague and its been mental since we started. There's 3 of us now as well (someone actually left a well paid job to join us). Money as expected could be better, we aren't going to be rich after 1 year but I still smile after every £1 we earn. It's not a gloat BTW, its simply to say that sometimes its not all bad Loosing your job, being made redundant was the best thing that ever happened to me.

I'd look at it like this, you're doing ti now for worse money so why not do it for better money whilst you look around for something else? :)

I'd be going for these jobs if they are better paid, depending on the companies and other things it could well help you a lot in getting that next job you want.

Same for me, have taken redundancy and will be gone soon but it came at the right time and things have worked out pretty well.

I know...Problem I'll probably be working flat out like in the last place, which won't do my head any justice (I'm not moaning about having to work harder, but literally the constant bombardment of the phone being stuck to my ear coupled with my tinnitus which somehow triggers my eyes to go loopy when it gets really bad is enough to send me almost insane!)

:p

EDIT: But I see your point entirely...I would love to be on the same as the SysAdmin here considering I do just as much most of the time :(

Just had my first interview in nearly six years, what a peculiar experience! Got a couple more lined up (oracle developer stuff mostly) - what on earth are you meant to ask when they ask if you have any questions? :p

Anything, stuff about the company, the turn over (depending on the job), whats the work atmosphere like, do they push career progression etc etc :)

I know its a right pain to think of things on the spot believe me :p But try and look up the company before hand if possible and see what things pop up :)

The annoying thing is, I had a list in my mind of things to ask - but they answered all these questions in the blab beforehand :o

Got my first job! :D

no more interviews for me. :p Always difficult to know whether to accept when you have other promising applications in process but it's a really exciting company so I think I've made the right decision.

On the other hand, student life is over for me. Boooo. :(

I'm currently working, but my pay is terrible and I desperately need to earn more to keep my head above water.

Having to pay £3.5k a year to commute to London doesn't help, but there are hardly any jobs locally so I guess I'll have to hope something comes up on CW Jobs or Jobserve soon.
