Forgot how bad job searching was :(

So phoned the number today (re: the job from yesterday) and after a few rings went to the companies voicemail.
Leaving options of trying agian, or speaking to my advisor who may or may not be able to help.

Thats ridiculous :(

Just try EVERY god damn moment you get some spare time :p And when you finally speak to your adviser tell them it's ridiculous how much you have had to go through just to apply for a job!

Aye, as stated, just note everything down and who you speak to and when etc, they cant say you haven't been trying then!

I didn't do that yesterday. I noted in the book thingy that I phoned, but as who and when I spoke, I didn't =[
Still no answer from the office. Give me time to calm nerves (hate calling poeple, makes me feel sick) and I'll try speaking to my advisor.

Phoned my personal advisor, even though i think the role is well suited to myself due to it being part of a Community Jobs Scotland scheme (why other's couldnt find it on the system) I may not actually be eligible for it. I think it's a sponsored job and as such only long term benefit claimants can apply, in other words I have not been unemployed for long enough to apply for it. She's going to phone and discuss with some poeple and call me back, I did say on the phone that it's basically what I studied at university, but if the rules means I can't apply then I don't have much choice.

edit: meant to say it's part of a government grant scheme.

Good going on getting in contact though, I hope it works out :)

Would be silly if it's purely due to you not being un-employed long enough....If thats the case work there for free for so long then employ you :p

So I had my second interview yesterday. I was expecting and hoping to meet the two directors however they were both unavailable so I had another interview with the finance manager. She sent me in to the office whilst she consulted her colleague about something which gave me enough time to glance at her question sheet she had left out on her chair :p

Fairly relaxed and I felt I answered the questions well. I then met the rest of the team and had a quick tour of the premises. After this we went back in to her office where we discussed the propsed start date which I then let her know of my holiday. There were a few other formalities but we did not discuss any salary/benefits nor was on offer made but that she did want to make a decision on Friday and was awaiting a reply to confirm a second interview for one other candidate.

We then had a short conversation about holidays & traveling and culture etc. It took me a while to realise she was trying to converse with me at this point as opposed to interview me!

I sent a follow up e-mail this morning re-itterating my understanding of the role and the company whilst also making clear my excitement at the possibility of working for them and my eagerness to be a part of the companys success.

I have been informed by the recruitment consultant that a decision will now not be made until Monday  due to the other candidate having to postpone! But that 'she is very positive about your interview and the team got on with you well'. All things look promising however the wait is more of a nuisance as I have been palming off another interview which want confirmation or cancelation of attendance next week by this Friday. I'm not one to **** people around (I already postponed it yesterday to attend this second interview) so I'm going to have to confirm on Friday and then cancel if an offer is made and I except on Monday *touch wood*.

She did say whilst introducing me on one occasion 'This is Ben, He;s on his second interview hopefully he'll be joining us, I mean might be joining us etc etc'. Swings and roundabouts.

So I've got 2 interviews next Wednesday in Edinburgh. I'm pretty confident in the sort of questions I'm going to be asked as I do a similar job in Nottingham for the same company so the interview is likely to be similar. The thing I'm not sure about is what sort of questions I should be asking them. I've got a couple relating to relocating but beyond that, I don't really know what to ask. Any thoughts?

Why they like/what do they like about working for the company?
Where do you see the company in 3,5 or 10 years time?
Is there anything you would like me to clarify that might have been unclear or have lead you to believe I might not be the best candidate for the job?

Good stuff, that's given me some ideas on what I can talk to them about :)

Edit: How rude of me, to not wish you luck on getting the job. Sorry Benny :)

S'alright, all the best with yours too.

Show some enthusiam and if you are invited back for a second interview after the second interview send follow up letters/e-mails to all of your interviewers thanking them and reiterating your enthusiasm/excitement and how impressed you are with the company etc(choose which dependant on time scale, I didn't have time due to the decision being made, so I thought this week, to send a letter unless I specialed it for about £12 so an e-mail made do).

If you can include some references to things they say or mention so that it shows you listened and it's not just a generic follow up letter.

Just a hijack of sort.

Has anyone left a company to move to a new job, after 2-3 months realised it isn't the place to be and gone back?

Yes this is the boat I am currently in and I would like opinions.

It's entirely down to the reasons you left the original job in the first place and if you left on good terms.

If the only reason you left was to try something new and maybe a little bit more money and left on good terms then I see no harm in going back. I've worked with quite a few people that have left the company I currently work at and then came back a year or so later.

So I've been staring at my phone all day today at work. Waiting for the yay or nay call.

I dropped the consultant an e-mail asking if he knew when roughly a decision would be reached and that as far as he knew it was still today. Decision expected this afternoon.

I just want to know so I know whether to be chuffed to peices or thoroughly ****** off at having to wait all weekend for bad news.

Holding thumbs for good news!

I had an interview last week, and the dude wants me to go in for a trial day to meet the rest of the team (small company 7 people) and see how I get on. Job would suit me fine but im planning on going away at Christmas for 3-6 months, just trying to find a job til then for some extra cash. I did not mention this at the interview, but I think im gona have to decline as he was talking a lot about long-term plans for the business, seemed really keen for me to be a part as well... no way I could just let him down a couple of months down the line! Grrrr @ having a GF who lives on the other side of the world  :p

Anybody have know a decent agency to sign up for to get first step up on the ladder, ideally in marketing?
A lot of these firms, as I've said before, read between the lines and your standing in a shopping centre being a sales agent or at some event. Looking to be in the office, creative and media side of things.
