Formula E 2014/2015 season

A lot of the tracks are going to be temporary layouts like this.

I don't mind street tracks, it's the layout which is important - if they're generally going to be this level of track (which I fear, as they obviously have to use pre-existing roads, and inner-city roads will seldom make anything other than straights, 90 degree corners, chicanes and hairpins) then it's already dead irrespective of the cars.

So who watched this then ?

Can't say I found it that enjoyable. Overtaking looked quite hard with none of the trickery from F1 of DRS and kers boosts only at key overtaking points.

Ending was tragic however. Nico obviously didn't defend well, thought he was going to lose it on the last corner and panicked and ruined it for them both

It wasn't the most exciting race but I don't think it was too bad, the track wasn't very exciting, but it did have walls and being single spec offered some close, tight racing at least near the start.

Think it'll take a while for the teams and drivers to truely get to grips with the battery usage and power trade off, i jsut hope with the long gaps between each race it doesn't slow down that learning curve a lot.

I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, seeing as though it was a first race and will be watching the next race :)

Reasonably good with some tweaks I think.

It was a shame that we had some reliability issues with some of the top drivers - Beumi, Senna and Trulli at the back, but out pretty fast.

I think it'd be better on a normal week with those up the front with the other quick guys.

Not hugely keen on the track, I think FE needs tight/technical tracks to succeed, not like that one really. As was said earlier, club tracks would be ideal, Tsukuba, Cadwell Park and such would be awesome as the speeds of the cars mean that they can stay side-by-side for a long time and do so pretty safely (except if you're Prost anyway).

Started watching the race but wasn't overly interested in it. Skipped to the end to see the accident. What the hell was Prost playing at? Stupid, stupid move.

Looking back at the old thread I initially dismissed this as a PR stunt and a waste of time. However over time I've become interested in it, and keen to find out where the London round would be so I can watch it.

But now it's here, it just feels like a massive let down. It's so slow and unexciting, and all the positive dialogue coming from those involved feels more and more forced. Without the crash it would have been a complete non event.

The one-hour races - in which drivers have to change cars halfway through, as a battery has not yet been developed to provide enough power for a full race - feature music during the races, as well as a "fanboost" where three drivers with the most social media votes have the power of their cars increased.

im not going to watch this!

I hate to say it, but wow, what a snoozefest. The accident was epic though! I was praying for Nick to punch Prost in the face and make it a better.
I think I will continue to watch to see if that develops into a proper fight, but if not i think this will go the way of A1 GP :(

If it survives the first couple of seasons and the tech is developed well I can see this becoming massive. Sure the first race was dull but that was mainly the course mixed with the noob like naivety.

They didn't seem slow, they were slow. Watch the onboard footage with the telemetry, there was only one part of the track where they were doing over 100mph. I wonder what the average speed was.

Edit: 127kph, or 79mph average.

GP2 and GP3 averaged 180kph and 160kph respectively around Valencia, which is about the closest track in style.

Well I watched it and never again. They was slow they sounded crap and the change over was just silly.
Oval tracks would be better for these milk carts.

Just watched it and I enjoyed it, kinda reminds me of the earlier years of F1: Tracks with zero run off, non-existant safety, and some slightly dodgy drivers in the line up.

The cars are slow atm but we get to watch the progression of tech on them and I imagine some of them will be quite dramatic.

When the tech starts improving it could be good. Having the battery life to not have to stop and having enough power to actually be fast - then it could be interesting.

Was better than I expected in the end, slowing so much to save energy was weird, but I feel it is the future .
