Forza 2 Demo - Feedback

Sorry to be argumentative, but I got a little bored outta my skull reading the comments about this when it started talking about poly counts, framerates, physics and the like (maybe I've played with the Wii too much and don't give a flying **** about such things, but hey, lets stick to the thread here).

So in a nutshell then, is this game gonna be another PGR3, i.e., some good online racing with fellow OCUKers, some good challenges? Or is it one to avoid?

Its a driving sim, so more depth & realism than PGR3 but still fairly easy to pick up and play. These kind of games you either love em or hate em.

The kinda answer I like!! Cheers.

The 'driving sim' was said about Test Drive, which I REALLY enjoyed, the only thing that was a massive let down was the multiplayer aspects which has so much potential but I thought was crap.

But if this is the multiplayer of PGR3 and the sim-iness of Test Drive then I think I'll like it.

TDU is not a sim  Its not even close, thats definetly arcadey. I think it plays ok and its not Chase HQ or anything but its not sim like or even trying to be imo

How does Forza with no ABS, etc compare to GT4 ? I wonder if Forza will influence GT5 development at all, I hope so :)

I can quite see that with the scenery etc - but it looks like the cars don't have any applied at all ? Makes the cars themselves look awfully jaggy ?

(I'm playing at 1080p via VGA)

Mark.

The demo does have AA. It has 2*AA and the replay has 4*AA running at 30fps.

Driftwood moderator on Xboxyde and played the preview build said this.

The Ring looks a lot better than Mugello so what you see here is pretty much what you have in gameplay. When I played the preview version at Blim's the ring was the most impressive track I played on (didn't try them all though).

As I said before, some tracks look horrible (NYC) while others look good (the Ring). It's a shame but unfortunately that's the way it is. :(

Comments can be found here along with Nürburgring video. (i know already been posted but think it got lost)

And probably something else of interest to people here. :)

Che adds that in the final game it will also be possible to tune the wheel completely

Absoloutely loving the demo, graphiics superb, handling fantastic, audio brilliant.

nothing much aelse to say T B H cant wait for the full game.

This is runnning on

Adi 22 Inch Monitor, set to 1024 * 768 in normal mode (so plays WS and HD) with the reference settings to Intermediate.

Oh an DD I have forza one here, and I have the demo, Forza 2 Demos blows Forza 1 away.

I fail to see why you continue to post in these threads especially when you dont have the console to try the game on yourself. IMHO if you owned a 360 or at least had access to one, then played the demo and found it a piece of garbage I could at least understand where you are coming from, as it stands. I dont.

Oh and if you dont have a HDTV you dont need one, by a VGA cable and hook it up to yer TFT / Monitor and bobs yer uncle. My 22 inch Adi monitor cost me the grand sum of £30 yes its huge, yes its not a true widescreen monitor (being old style square) but boy does it blow a lot of my friends TV's away when it comes to HD Xbox 360.

Not if the previous GT games are anything to go by.

Ok i may have been a bit premature with this one, theres more to it than just graphics i suppose just wanted a bit more i did. Although i have allways loved the GT series and never played forza. Not planning on cancelling my preorder i need to try it for real :)

It definately has AA as confirmed by Che in a post I made on the Forza forums. It has 2* applied to cars in play mode and 4* in replay mode.

Thats odd. I read this on Gamespy:

This game's recreation of the Big Apple is so stunning that it makes us forget we're in the middle of a race every time we see it.

...and that was from a preview of a beta build. I shall wait till I see it in the flesh before I pass judgement :)

Buckster said he is using 1080p with it, super high res.
I know barring all else, 1600x1200 on my pc makes a massive difference to the look of a game compared to 1152x864 (720p ish) for example.

You dont even need AA that much at that res though its always nice. Maybe its more a case of the texture quality

perhaps the up-scaling internally introduces some additional jaggies ?

Mark.

Is it just me or does the game look a lot better when you put the VGA on enhanced mode? It seems to take a few of the jaggies away?

heres what I mean - ignore the crosshatch pattern - thats just a weird effect of taking a photo of the screen.

but from some angles the cars look awfully jaggie ? Perhaps it is a texutre thing ?

look at the boot lids, spoilers, roof lines etc on the cars to the left :(
