Forza 5 Announced

Looks fantastic - however just cannot justify spending all that money on a console for just one game..

So, i'll not be getting to play this game anytime soon. Most the titles xbone has that I'd want are heading to PC, Forza 5 is the only one I can't get elsewhere..

Damn shame, still credit where its due, looks damn nice.

This looks nice.....

HOWEVER.......

.......Why does the right wing mirror reflect the kerb on the left at about 29s into the video?

Weird, seems to do it all the time (flipped) when using the external view, all the way through Eau Rouge the curbs are reflected in the wrong mirror.

TBH, that Spa video has sold me, I think I'm keeping my pre-order. Even if I sell the XBONE after a few months of Forza 5 I think I need to play this game :o

Erm, isn't that what you'd see from behind the car? The wing mirror is angled in towards the driver, so you'd see through to the other side.

Nah, the car is right up next to the curb yet the opposite mirror is still reflecting it. If it was as you described it would be showing the trackside detail like trees/crowd, not the immediate floor :p

Looking better than the in-game video released a month ago, must include around 2/4XAA now, whereas the first stream video I don't think there was any.

This is going to be good and still 60FPS at 1080p

It does look nice but although I do like a good racing game, I also like a bit of realism when it comes to crashes. AFAIK there hasnt been any ingame footage of the crash sequences or major vehicle damage - unless anyone can point me in the right direction for a vid.

I hate - with a passion - racing games that have bad crash physics and damage. So much so it means uninstalling. I enjoy the fact that the car Im driving is not indestructible, you have to be smart when driving against opponents and when it goes spectacularly wrong, I get an odd satisfaction from watching my vehicle get wrecked and it happening with a good physics engine showing all the detail as the car is totaled. For me it gives a greater degree of re playability as I want to race again and this time get it right.

Games that have instant respawn when you leave the track, no damage modelling and terrible physics are a no no for me.

I want to see dust, dirt, sparks, twisted metal, wheels rolling off etc...

I pray Forza 5 comes up trumps in this area.

I don't think you'll be finding that in FM5. They seem to have added a bit of extra realism around the current damage, but I don't think they've added 'more'. I would love it added, as using old M3's for a close race with lots of contact is very fun

Seeing the racing there, with some of the cars, has left me rather excited. :D:D

It'll be broadly the same as previous titles in the series. The car manufacturers won't allow structural damage as part of the license conditions.

The damage will be cosmetic but like FM4 if you turn the damage settings up and have a heavy bump the car will become undrivable. It isn't destruction derby though so they're not going to let you smash it up completely. I agree it should happen but I'm not going to let it spoil my enjoyment of the games.

Don't believe this has been posted, but just a few screenshots of the cars. I wonder if the graphics really are that good? :D *thinking back to FM4, then they probably are

I also found this interview with Dan Greenawalt an interesting read, especially when he start talking about the Autovista :)

Yeah, I don't think I've driven a Viper in ages as well.

I just want my Nissan Skyline GT-R32. It's my favourite car, and I love upgrading and tuning the hell out of it and watching it destroy all the supercars. It can be a pig to handle at times at top speed, but nothing keeps up with it in a straight line.

I've done that on FM4 with the Volvo S60 for the lower classes. Rather fun :p

Datsun 240Z for the higher stuff/drag ;)
