Forza 6 (Apex) coming to PC near you, soon....

The fact Forza is totally playable on a pad opens it up to so many more people though. Racers that are basically unplayable on a pad always get stuck in a niche.

I expect even when wheel support comes I'll still play this more on the pad. Wheels are just hassle in a desk thats also used for work and "normal" PC stuff.

I really hope so. I loved Horizon, but got shafted by Horizon 2 as I got the 360 version which was poo. The One version looked great, so if 3 is more of that I will be very happy.

Don't get me wrong it's nice that a game is highly playable with a game pad but wheel support and use takes it to a different level beyond what a pad can offer.

Not disputing that at all, I was just challenging your suggestion that it would be "naff" or "rubbish" with a pad. Its not, its great. Its better with a wheel that's for sure, but its definitely not rubbish with a pad, and dismissing it because it doesn't have wheel support would be a shame.

Meh, the game won't even start for me. I did the first race after that it froze on a loading screen. Does it every time. Guess I'll just uninstall it and download it again.

I badly wish this was on Steam so I could verify the game files or even alter a config file.

Those with stuttering, have you checked your CPU usage? It stutters for me for a few seconds after first loading the beta but is OK after that. I wonder if it's to do with the CPU and I'm getting ~100% usage on core 1 and 2.

looks like I have to get windows 10 after all

now all we need is........ Gran Turismo then we are sorted! :D

GT is dead. It stopped being fun after about GT4 and just became a sterile grind fest. They seem more interested in making an interactive encyclopaedia documenting every variation of Miata and Skyline than making a game.

Couldn't disagree more with what you just said. Sure the last couple of games haven't been perfect but racing is the best on console and online racing is still the best.

Hmmm. No it's not. Forza 4 was the peak of console racing. The PS3 versions of GT have just been sterile borefests.

Waiting from my spare SSD to update Windows 10 (not been used in months), then I'll download and have a try. Guessing multiple monitors won't be possible...

Absolutely.

PC doesn't have any game that is really anything close to this. Never has. It's been a long time coming. I'd actually say that Forza Motorsport made sim racing more accessible and fun than any other title, franchise or platform before it.

Frankly, I'd be willing to put down $100 for the full version right now. I truly do love the series. And I say that as somebody who initially got their kicks playing GT3 and GT4 and also has hundreds and hundreds of hours with 'hardcore' racing sims on PC. FM just occupies this neat spot in the picture that I think would really be a huge hit on PC............once we actually get the full featured Forza Motorsport. What we have now is actually damn good, better than I was expecting honestly, but it's just a drop in the pond compared to the full thing.

I agree that FM4 was the peak of console racing. And I personally have come to find a lot more joy and love for Forza Motorsport than I have Gran Turismo. But I wouldn't say that GT is a 'borefest'. Sterile - I'll probably agree with that. They feel cold and soulless in many way when compared to Forza. But they're still really good games. GT5 and GT6 were exceptional in their own attention to detail and whatnot, which made them entirely worthwhile. But yea, Forza, for me, stole GT's thunder and took the formula and gave it heart and excitement and flavor. Even the art style, which many criticize as 'cartoony', provides a more saturated and less rigid attempt at graphics that I appreciate. Forza still manages to look great and largely realistic without adhering to strict stylistic principles.
