Well you can play it for free for 2 weeks if you want, but that removes the option of 2.99 for 1 month I think.
It is daylight robbery for sure
If you do go for it, try to squeeze it on your SSD, I have similar setup to you and on a mechanical drive I got a lot of streaming issues, where in fast cars it could not get the textures fast enough causing the game to pause.
Anyone else find the brightness setting by default is too high? If I reduce the brightness to make the first image 'barely visible' then I have to go all the way to 0.
With most games I find I can back off a couple of clicks from default to get the right setting but with this game something seems off....?
I'm currently going through various events and enjoying the game but it's a bit weird in the way that no matter how you do in the race you're treated like some sort of superstar? This is my first Horizon game so I'm trying to get used to how the game works. I've read that the game somehow 'opens up' when you get to level 20? What does that mean?
I've found the online to be completely broken so far. No-one ever joins any races I try to enter and I get the same errors others have been getting.

I don't get that at all either, finished 12th? Here have a gold medal...
Hopefully there are some real challenges later on, that don't go "everyone gets a medal"
yeah tbh all I really want to do is just race against other real people with actual stakes but so far I haven't been able to do that at all. Feels like I'm doing something wrong lol.

It opens up so you can play pvp on every race event but don't expect to get a online race on any of the races except for the seaonal 3-event champsionships. With no lobbies there's just no chance your ever gonna get 11 other racers in the same event. People do que for the seaonal events though but there's only a couple of them and more often that not you can be waiting to play in say for example the C-class Classic Rally Champsionship and because of lack of players it just puts you in whatever one is available. Usually you end up in the broken James bond event where half the racers have bond B class cars (cost £7.99 extra btw, why anyone would pay this to drive slow cars in beyond me when there's literally hundreds of cars given to you constantly) and you get entered in your freeroam car, so X class v B class, its broken. No one ever is waiting to play the mega races (gaunlet, collosus, titan etc), these would be the most fun online but because of no lobbies you not gonna get a race in these pvp.
personally the endless rewards left a bad taste in my mouth, addiction forming tricks being used and rewarding being **** is anti-gaming IMO.
Yeah, i'm just not enjoying this one at all, map feels too small, styling cues make it look like UK but just dosnt feel like it. The constant rewards for mediocraty and doing **** all, I mean seriously, i'll have been upgrading a car, take it for a quick spin and go back to the menus i've got like 5 wheel spins waiting for me... like... FOR WHAT???
I feel like i'm being rewarded for opening rewards, is this what gaming has come to? there is no depth or substance to it, all flash, instant gratuity, I dont even enjoy just cruising around as there is no feel to it, no soul and absolutely no skill. The menu system is just a jumbled looking mess.
Oh and what happened to Mitsubishi? No Evos? and no decent Toyotas either...
Felt like they could have done something special with this, like a genuine homage to XH558 or something like that, but no... they had to go and ruin that too with a rediculously lazy caricature of the vulcan, I can only imagine the flying scotsman train is that same.
Yeah so... I dont see myself putting much if any more time into the game, will keep an eye on the DLC's and Car packs to see if anything in there interests me, but i feel like i'm done with it now, dont even feel the desire to try online.
Just a dreadfully shallow game.

Couldn't agree more, I was pumped for weeks for this having not played the others and just grabbed a new GPU. Said it earlier in the thread but this is Candy Crush psychology being used. There's no sense of having achieved anything, I don't want to offend fans who just love the game for the mechanics of it, as a racer its good but the whole container it comes packaged in is offensively dumb and patronising. Another example of dumbing down things for mass appeal, gamers should be offended by this **** but so many hooked on the dopamine drip of grinding for rubbish with ZERO skill required.
Its a shame because some of it is brilliant, hammering around dirt races in a suped up focus is great fun, could be so good with lobbies and leagues, more apparant time trial leaderboards etc, catering for actual gamers and not people into fashion and emoji's. But the reality is the enjoyment comes second to the endless driving to races, watching people dance, even my own Drivatar I want to punch in his obnoxious face, viewing your car from 14 different angles before a race starts, its infuriating.
If you must subject yourself grab a X class asap for freeroam, travelling to events is interminable and don't bother with the roads, you get more of those rewards hammering through fields and trees than attempting to actually drive with skill.
Absolutely nailed it with " There's no sense of having achieved anything"
so yeah...I kind of agree with the negative comments...but I'm trying to stick with it as I'm sure it will all 'click' at some point.....I think I will just keep on doing the 'events' and see what happens lol

Regarding the lack of those manufacturers it's all down to licensing init. I'm sure they tried to strike a deal but they could have exclusivity elsewhere. Odd as games like this would be a good promotional platform for your products.
