Forza Motorsport (10/10/23)

I concur on the sheds to supercars style progression for single player, and also in a way multiplayer. A decent career system is needed to hold my attention, especially for a controller centric game (Forza has never felt right with a wheel).

I'd like to see a similar ELO style system to ACC and iRacing for the online where you have a driver rating that qualifies you to enter races & events of a similar skill and safety level. Ongoing championships with in-game prizes would be cool too.

It'll certainly look and sound great, but FH5 already does that so this needs some focussed competition and progression to hold my attention.

Yes, it needs that.

New trailer looks good. I'm hoping it delivers all the things I enjoyed in Forza Motorsport 4 (the last I played). Used to love modding and tuning some cars and hot lapping. If the game also includes decent multiplayer, excellent!

Refraction adios... I'm too spoilt by Assetto Corsa.

This looks decent, hopefully has a decent career with no loot box crap like fm7 and much better physics.
Was soo disappointed with gt7's cafe menu career, I will never understand why they did that when the map is there anyway.

This really needs good wheel support. FH4 was embarrassingly bad, completely unplayable with a wheel.

No game designed for a userbase of joypad users will ever have good wheel support or FFB.

You want good wheel support you design the game around a wheel being the primary controller, like proper sims.

It barely looks any different to FM7.. same crappy 3D models, at least GT got their models laser scanned and done properly. Headlights with no VRAY or Refraction. (see my earlier 190e cosworth picture)
I am too spoilt by Assetto Corsa, which still looks better with mods, in a 10 year old engine :D

If it has loot boxes or the same god awful menu system as Forza Motorsport 7, it'll be a hard pass.
I don't think it'll be as bad though. They really need some wins at the moment, so I think they'll have put some good work in to it.

Models look good enough to me. If the driving physics are atleast on par with Forza 4 (last one I played iirc) and there is the same level of car customisation and tracks I'll be happy. The trailer looked to include a nice bit of car tuning, and if it runs well on PC I'll be well chuffed. As much as I love Assetto Corsa, it's a bit of a faff to setup all the mods and the game isn't really playable with a gamepad - I don't want to *have* to setup my steering wheel to have fun. So hopefully Forza will be able to fill the "casual" racing sim role for me.

They're definitely still using old assets, with just minor updates on shaders and materials.

Assetto Corsa is pretty simple now with modding, once it's all setup you're good to go. Also, you must not have been keep up to date with it, CSP has come a long way now, it's 100% playable with a gamepad thanks to Ilja implemented Gamepad FX into CSP. Controllers are real fun to use now, pretty much just like Forza. There are different scripts you can get on RaceDepartment for it too. This is one of the best: https://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/a7-assist-gamepad-fx.53941/

Also if you like using third person view you can use BACC chaser cam (NFS, FH, and GT style) https://www.racedepartment.com/down...on-better-arcade-chaser-camera-for-csp.49738/

Oh sweet. Yep, I'm pretty out of the loop, not tried it in a few years now tbh. I'll have to give it a shot to cure the racing itch until Forza arrives!
