Forza Motorsport 3 Demo Discussion Thread

Loving the demo so far, definately think i need to replace my standard xbox steering wheel setup, damn shame the G25 doesnt work with the Xbox.

I need to research the Fanatec setups, a quick google suggests i could get something like an "Porsche 911turbo S wheel" and "RF Dongle", that will let me use the G25 pedals, and also use the kit on my PC/Mac and PS3. :)

Rewind and Penaltys will mark the lap as uncertified (a warning triangle). If you got a 1:10 uncertified laptime in a mini, you'd be below all other certified times on the leaderboad. So Rewind/shortcuts can't be used to get top leaderboard positions.

There are lots of certified fast times so i'm unsure about the reported bug

Psymonkee, it could be.. I'll ask him when i get a chance :)

It only happens in the race mode. It shouldn't give the penalty in TT.

From what i saw when is used a rewind it just about ignored that lap completly. Had a 'last lap time' which was faster than my at the time best lap by a few seconds so it wasn't just me missreading it, so i'm unsure as to weather a rewind lap is even uploaded.

Just found the TT mode, much more fun without having to worry about the AI getting in the way. :)

Setting some decent'ish laptimes now, no clue how they compare to others on here, but they are top 3/4 in my friends list. :)

Just added you, NoSkilleth, GT seems familiar did you thrash me at MotoGP back on the original xbox? (probably a different gt then...)

Blimey, shows how often I check live and PSN for that matter – got both consoles on right now downloading a bunch of things, Forza 3 demo included.

Can’t wait to try this, loved Forza 2; mainly down to the handling I guess, which is something I think GT5 has ****ed up on IMO.

Scort.

Hi Skill, i did used to play MotoGP at quite a high level, and if im not mistaken you used to thrash me at GPL. :P

Dunno about thrash, I seem to recall being far too busy chucking the car into the scenery to be thashing anybody :p

Do not often post on here as you can see by my post count but troll a lot as I value the opinion of the communitiy.

I have played NFS shift and the new demo on the xbox wheel and I feel the handeling on the forza demo represents the handleing on real world cars in terms of lift off oversteer etc.

However the feeling of speed imo is much better represented in NFS shift , in forza I just did not have the feeling that I was going the 100 mph + that was represented on the dial.

This is all driven from the cockpit view.

I see many people saying there's no sense of speed in Forza 3 but personally I'm terrified when I get that Porsche up to 250km/h - that's not even close to the speeds you can achieve in other tracks and even at 250km/h it's barely drivable. Imagine driving through some fast corners at 250km/h, not just through the straight chicane-type thingie we have in the demo. Now add 100km/h to that.

Of course you won't feel like going 300km/h when you're actually doing 100-150km/h like you do most of the track on most of the cars. The sense of speed in Forza 3 feels very much like it does in say GTR Evolution or iRacing. And that's pretty much the same as saying it's quite close to real life experience (except of course the speed feels a lot more, umm, realistic, when you are driving at those speed in real life because you can see and observe your surroundings much better.)

But that's just my opinion. I like realism and even though Forza 3 is semi-realistic at best, overall it still feels better than any other semi-sim or arcade game. By overall I mean the whole package from physics to driving to sense of speed to graphics to sound. It's not like Shift has realistic sound although it might have a lot of bass and volume. Graphics-wise Forza 3 might not be the top dog when you add the pixels together but hey, I like the graphics in iRacing too. Forza 3 graphics are much more than I needed :)

You have to be signed into a profile with a gold account to use the time trial mode, took my mate and I 30 mins to figure that out :p

Seeing as the clutch is pure digital. I can't imagine how it must be for fanatec users. Simply gotta press A every time I shift and leaves my left foot free for braking.

The first time I have managed to get away from the GF. Been playing now for about a hour 01:10:772 in the Evo atm. Still loads of room for improvement. ABS assist off is so much better on F3 then it was on F2. Even though there are still no wheel settings it is a lot easier to threshold brake.

Edit 01:10:557 now. Switched to clutch and getting a lot better times. I was ahead of a 01:09 ghost but messed up the turn after the hill ><.

I've been playing this mnore and more - and now I agree its SUPERB

now I'm actually driving and concenrating I'm ignoring the jaggies

my best time on the mini so far is 1 min 17.814 - which isn't too bad (top 17%) butI've a-way to catch up with you guys :)

do you find on a lot of the mini straights - especially the ones on inclines - you're better off in the mini sticking in 3rd ?
