in his prime he was second to shearer (and perhaps a.cole, when he was at newcastle), so maybe im being a bit harsh on the fellow. however, for some people to infer that he was one of the best finishers the game has ever seen. (he was 46% down on shearers goal tally), i think, is a bit far fetched. for statements like, " he is the most natural finisher..." (something that a.hansen said and some people here have echoed). surely the premiership's most gifted goalscorer cant be outscored by such a large margin?
if for example last year, henry scored 32 goals, and rvn 23. although rvn would be second best, he still too far off the pace to be mentioned in the same breath as henry, even though he finished 2nd from top. and i wouldnt rate RvN as highly because of this.
in his prime he was just too far off the pace being set by shearer/cole (at newcastle). and in the present he just cant seem to get himself fit enough to play a more than a few games.
for me, its a no brainer. anelka wins hands down over fowler. anelka will score over 10 goals/season for sure. the same cannot be said about fowler (going on years gone by).
