They wouldn't send a monitor via RM hence DPD or whoever for your delivery.

Larger or more valuable items will always be sent via DPD. If it is a cheaper item or small item like a cable, it will just be sent via Royal Mail.

But changed from 1st class as it used to be to 2nd class?

Have to honest here, I've not noticed a difference between them apart from price you pay for a while now - I've even had 2nd class mail arrive faster than first so hardly bother paying the premium.

First rule in business - you don't make money by spending what you don't have to.

Also seems free delivery is back working for me again \o/. Bit late for the 850 special and stuff I was buying at the weekend, but good for the next time I'm shopping. Xmas soon...

Haven't purchased anything from OcUK for a while now, as free delivery was no longer applied to Aberdeen.
Nice to see this is fixed now! Not sure on the site re-design, but next purchases will be from here!

Ordered a few fans yesterday, not got them today which was odd as OCuK always without fail arrive next day due to wonderful DPD next day service from forum loyalty.

Checked account, sent via royal mail 2nd class and no fans today :(

Also to add, it wasn't just the speed that was great, but all the features that next day dpd allowed, now instead of getting my order delivered to my safe place as no ones home I'm going to have to visit my 'local' depot no doubt in a day or two.

Well i think the OP needs to be changed then, still says that free shipping is RM first class or DPD Next day.

OcUK reserves the right to choose the method of shipping, which for the purpose of Free Shipping will be DPD Next Day or Royal Mail First Class

We have always used Royal Mail for small orders. We would be making a huge loss using a courier every time for some fans or a cable for example. Courier is used for larger or more expensive items. When ordering you have to choose the delivery too, it should say that it is DPD or RM before you pay.

Looks like I'll be missing getting a "this week only" deal because there's no option to link my forum account for the shipping!

Please use the customer service forum and we'll make sure this is resolved for you. :)

Edited, thanks. :)

I thought it was only orders sent by Royal Mail which were 2nd class, and that anything with DPD was still next day delivery as before... or has that changed also?

Nope not changed at all. People seem to be thinking the free shipping has changed completely, the whole thing is the same, apart from being 1st Class it is 2nd Class. That is all that is different. If you choose larger/more expensive items, it will still be sent via DPD.

It's been a mix of DPD and RM for as long as I've been using free delivery tbh:

I'm not going to complain at them for choosing a better value option - its not like they're using Yodel or making us pay a subscription to get 'free' deliveries now is it?

Thanks for the clarification 5UB... it was just that I was getting the impression that some members were under the impression that DPD deliveries will will also be relegated to a second class service, so it is good to have confirmation that we will continue to receive 'next day' delivery of items sent with them... and of course have access to their very useful tracking service and one hour delivery window.

For some time now DPD have been my 'courier of choice' and I will always try and place an order with a supplier, such as yourselves, who I know uses them as a standard option.

Done :) only 4 hours or so left until the cutoff point for next day so hopefully it'll get sorted by then!

Edit: Nevermind :( It wasn't done in time and now my basket has gone back up to the pre this-week-only price. :(

DPD are certainly a better option than UPS, which for some reason doesn't provide a free delivery slot estimate, they actually charge for it!

UPS don't have the resources in the UK DPD do, UPS sticking to a time slot requires a vehicle to divert off route or potentially not take the optimal route round.
A DPD guy is doing one sub postcode in a lot of cases, and only spends 5 or 6 ours out on the road delivering.
