I am really trying to think what wire could actually be put into the psu by mistake.
I have been building systems for over 20 years have varios qualifications was just about to finish my A+ and would be a ms engineer If i had not last my eye sight and this has me to telly confused

Looks like mixed memory modules which is a bit odd as I wouldn't have thought OcUK would do that. (Not followed the thread enough to see if hes done any upgrades).
I've read the whole thing and I'm glad that OP had this luck of buying his system from OCuk, because no other company would care so much.
On a side note, this situation reminds me of a guy posting on 'Watercooling' forums about hybride liquid gel cooling some time ago. Some local shop advised him it works wonders.

we don't even sell that RAM, which as I was trying to make people aware, we never advise mixing RAM types, if it is not the same RAM exactly, even with the same timings it's better to get exactly the same RAM.For overclocked systems from us, I advise to always ask first when increasing the amount of RAM, even with the same type, as it will more likely degrade your performance.
We overclock the CPU to also increase RAM performance and the extra load on the CPUs memory controller often knocks the overclock off or increases CPU temperatures and reduces the life of the CPU, could even turn out to be what killed his system (though unlikely)

I bought a system from ocuk about 6 years ago. And everytime i would boot it up it would reset itself. The idiot that built it connected the reset switch wire on the motherboard to the wrong pin! Never again, i got my money back and rebuilt the system properly myself.
OCUK is staffed by humans (not idiots) and humans make mistakes occasionally. That's ALL humans including yourself. Once our robot overlords take over, these mistakes will be consigned to history.
6 Years is a very long time, infact there is no builder in the department as far as I know that was there 6 years ago, we also have massively improved QC, the chance of that happening now is pretty much impossible.
the system is built, turned on and checked over against an internal QC list by the builder. It is then installed and again checked by the rack worker (guy who goes round installing and running the tests on the systems) and finally QCed again by the QCer who signs off a QC sheet (lots of QC there
), he starts the PC up, checks all drives are detected, that all USBs working etc and is then finally packed up ready for shipment.As you can seen 3 different people check the build over and 2 of them are recorded as having checked the system.
I appologise for your previous experience but we are much better at it now

Similarly to this 'Silicon' place, there are computer shops where i live who wouldnt know 10% of the things OcUK staff know, so i advise you never walk past their shop again

Hey, I walk past silicon in Edinburgh twice a day.
I have bought one fan from them.... I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them for PC information.
My time I spent looking at their pathetic selection of fans I overheard them trying to insist that a poor customer buys a sound card with their PC because they "would get no sound" when the on board sound was more than sufficient for their needs.
I advised the customer of this and left.
EDIT: Thats actually a bit unfair, blaming a company for one member of staff years ago, but staff are a reflection of the company

Update for you guys:
It was the graphics card that had died, the rest of the system was fine.
Though the case was damaged on the way to us from him, but we will get DPD to replace that.
Please note, if you are returning a system, or in fact any part to us please place the item in a box with bubble wrap around it, as our couriers have to move it about a lot and it is more likely to get damaged if either is not present. If you can't get hold of either we do have a service to send you out some, though you would have to wait for it to arrive (Which is also why we advise keeping the original packaging as long as possible)

Gritts unfortunately still believes we are to blame, and even thinks we damaged his case on purpose and not the courier even though it makes no sense as we never even needed to get the item back and damaging his case would only create headaches for ourselves.
Oh well, you can help some of the people some of the time but you can't help all the people all of the time.
Hope eventually he realises what we have tried doing for him.
