Fringe

Apparently, we have to wait 4 weeks for the next episode, but then it is running straight through with no breaks:)

Probably the best show I have seen in ages tbh(i don't watch much actually come to think of it)

Awesome latest episode.

My thoughts are that Olivia is creating a bridge between universes.
In the episode with the old couple in the apartment we've seen that love was used to communicate between universes and I reckon that when she's on the cortexiphan Olivia can do a more advanced version of this and is somehow becoming one with Peter's Olivia.
Perhaps the episode the other week with the town that merged with the alternate universe town is an allusion to this?

Perhaps this olivia has to die, in order to save the original olivia and peter.
To what end this has i have no idea, peter's baby must play some significant role in future events, perhaps he turns out to be one of the first watchers?

After that episode I'm certain that this is his universe, and its the same alt-universe, just with no memory of him on either side, thats why RDJ is there and that's why they also mentioned that word 'Palimpsest'. The reason Alt-Walter isn't 'bad' is because he never lost his son, but that has been taken over by a bad Nina & RDJ who are trying to fight the blue side. The whole thing has been re-written without him, now regardless of why the bad nina was injecting Olivia with cortexiphan it has now enabled Peter's love to somehow transfer or awaken her memories of a life with him. The only thing I didn't get is why Peter was important, September messed with the moment where Walter was about to discover a cure but regardless of what happened next (crossing over to save the other boy), saving him from the ice, what is it Peter does in the future IF none of that happened and he lived as the Observer was trying to observe?.... Now we gotta wait 4 weeks!

I am also certain that it is Peters universe. One thing I didn't get though was this-

The Observer said that because he distracted Walternate(i hated typing that:p) whilst he was making the cure, Peter was going to die, so he allowed him to be saved, taken to the other side etc. This apparently meant that he had a baby with the "Wrong Olivia". Surely if he was saved as intended, he would never have met the original Olivia? .....Oh I don't know!

I know what you mean! :D

BlueWalter, RedWalter & AmberWalter, any more? :p

As far as I understand it was our Walter (BlueWalter) that was distracted, not RedWalter, and that led BlueWalter to cross over and nick RedPeter. It WAS meant for our BluePeter & BlueOlivia to meet and fall for each other & have a baby, but instead it was RedPeter & RedOlivia! So even though BlueWalter managed to cross over to save RedPeter he messed up again because RedPeter broke through the ice as was sure to be lost AGAIN, thats what led September to save RedPeter so he could meet our BlueOlivia and sort of correct the time line, but as I said he ended up banging RedOliva and getting her up the dove!

I think thats right, but probably not, too damn many universes for my little brain to understand! :p

Has anyone else notice the ridiculous amount of Nissan Leaf sponsorship now littered throughout Fringe. Most obvious examples that spring to mind.

A few eps back when they were driving along, check the GPS, Peter says something along the lines of "it's still 40 miles out" and Olivia replies with "It's ok, we still have plenty of range"...followed by lingering shot of Nissan Leaf driving down the road.

Now, just watched an episode where they come out of MIT, the Leaf is being charged at an oh-so-convenient charging station, they get in, drive off and a longer than average lingering shot of the back end of the car driving off.

I don't mind product placement, it's everywhere & can't be avoided but they are over-selling this so much through Fringe it's starting to distract me from the actual show.

Am I right in thinking that previously the machine that only Peter can control was found to have been made by Walter but Walter had no recollection of it ?

Weds episode showed Walter starting work on building a new machine for Peter and adding some biometric function to it so that only Peter could use it.

I'm thinking that the observers are going to either take it before its complete and then scatter it through time and possibly universes. Or something else really.

I might rewatch this series as I wait for the new episodes to air.:)

I don't know if I want them to stop after this series ends or not tbh. At the most, I would want them to finish after season 5 I think. best to work towards and end, and the current story arch is shaping up to be pretty epic.

Very good latest episode. Questions answered and a nice nod to a previous unresolved plot(from season 1 iirc).

Reading an interview with the cast the other day, it seems like they are going to really deliver in the second half of season 4, and they say they have some interesting ideas for season 5. Personally, #i wouldn't mind if they stopped it after this season. Good to end on a high, though I am not particularly against a fifth season

I enjoyed it, if only for my shipper heart! <3 :o but it finally confirmed what we've all been thinking that he is home, but where does that leave the rest of the season r.e. the machine & how he rebuilds his relationship with the others, or will it be about RDJ and the battle raging on with his shapeshifters? Poor Lincoln though lol, saw this on reddit and I instantly thought the same while watching the episode:

Poor chap has been friendzoned in both universes! :p

Anyone notice Walter's voice was 'off' ? Whether he had a cold or what but he sounded different.

Also I must've missed the part where we got our Nina back since the one we saw last was from the other side!

ah, bugger. looks like i need to track down the box set again then...

season 3 wasnt that great and seemed to have gone down hill a lot. not enough quirky walter who is one of my favourite characters on screen.

On nina

AFAIk, without going back and checking, the "real" Nina was being questioned by the FBI, the fake Nina was pretending to be kidnapped to persuade Olivia to do something but they never kidnapped the real one then replaced her.

So the real Nina was never gone in the first place?

Only just watched the latest episode, and therein lies why this season has sucked so far, there was either going to be a bad explanation as to why he couldn't go back or the easier, stupid and more obvious "you've been home the whole time" explanation. Problem really is that his reasoning for assuming he wasn't home was always, well, crap. I was erased so here the timeline is different because you don't remember me. Either way, too much "lets rewrite everything for the sake of shaking it up" thinking for this season rather than just, you know, having a good idea in the first place.

Considering the worlds are now linked, and the shapeshifters are such a threat, both the lack of obvious interaction with the sides, and the lack of going after the shapeshifters is, irksome. Surely with them both distrustful of the other side and needing to work together they would have a joint command type thing going on.
