FTL - Faster than Light, Space Rogue - ( INDIE )

Er, any way to get it full screen on my monitor? Both fullscreen options seem to make it a 720p thumbnail in the middle of the screen. Tried adding settings in the ini file, doesn't make a difference.

Gahhhhhh....

Got the secret ship, well upgraded with 3 sheilds, full dodge, full crew, few tasty upgrades and was gifted that crazy laser weapon that does 3 damage per room along with some crystal weapons that partially ignore sheilds.

Was feeling really confident. Had run him close a few times previously but I was far stronger this time around, so reckon I could have had him. But holy hell, he was just beating the crap out of my weapons array, struggled to keep them online. Then fires spread, sheild array went down and ....kaboom :(

"You win again, gravity!"

I beat the Flagship at the end and it left me on red hull damage with no way to repair for it to zoom off again and it tells me I have to beat him a 2nd time.

How many times do you have to beat it?

Ah this game is awesome... The Type B Engie ship is really hard to get started!

So much easier when you unlock the engi ship.

Need to figure out how to unlock the other ships.

All though it's an awesome small game, I do feel £5 is a bit of a rip off compared to games you get on th app store, which are far cheaper.

Really? I thought £5 was super reasonable for the amount of content, i've already had more value out of it than most £40+ AAA titles.

It's probably a bit higher priced than an Angry Birds game because rogue-like games appeal to a smaller demographic.

See I think content is very small, that doesn't stop fun and replay ability.
I would liken it to more like galaxy on fire type apps. Which is £2.99.

That pricing wouldn't fit into pc pricing. I think they are pretty spot on, if you prefer your android pricing I guess you won't find many games worth playing on the pc.

I think they have it pretty much spot on. In terms of for me I love the game.

If I have a disappointment it is they could have made more of it:

- steam achievements/score board
- steam cloud
- more developed quest system
- missions

Otherwise good job, steam achievements particularly niggles me - hopefully they'll put that in at some point

Loving this game, it can be seriously brutal and unforgiving. As for the price iT is about right, I have had about 6 hours play sofar. Most AAA titles would be 40 for 8-10 hours play.

I'm in agreement, compared to most 'AAA' titles which last me anything from 3-15 hours on average I'd say the 6-7 hours I've sunk in to FTL are proving value for money.

You guys need to be more Selective on which gams you buy, or if unsure wait Untill the like a £5. Bar SWTOR and fallout 3, other disappointing games have been cheap. Stuff I purchased full price. Generally get thousands of hours from it.

Am I missing something? Game seemed epicly fun until I have died twice. I find the following odd unless I am wrong?

1. When you die the only thing you keep is the ships that you unlocked along the way. Any cool weapons you salvaged aren't available in an "inventory" to try out next time you have to restart? Was hoping to have crew members, etc available next time round to try out to stop it becoming the same over and over.

2. If you quit after an hour and have reached X level, do you have to start again or does it save which sector you arrived at? Haven't tried this yet.

Number 1 is my main bug at the moment. Would be nice if you could kit out your ships with stuff you have found or bought so far along the way otherwise it is the same old game over and over again if you die which is a bit too grind-diablo style for me :( I play a game to enjoy it rather than doing the same thing over and over and over.

1) that's how this publisher does things. Dying is harsh.
2) press escape and select save & exit. Then you can continue, doesn't work as a normal save though.

Thousands? I've never play an 'MMO' because I'd hate the thought of wasting 'thousands' of hours of my life on a game.

Last purchase for me was Diablo III and I played that for around 27 hours and got bored. That's ~£1 per hour.

I finished Deux Ex in less time so that would equate to more than £1 per hour.

In essence it's still cheaper than renting a film so even if I don't finish a game (which is normal because I lose interest) it's still [subjectively] good value for money.

.

Not even MMOs other than swg.
I played c&c renegade for about 6 years. Spent several years each on c&c Yuris revenge, soldier of fortune, call of duty 2 and 100s of hours on cod4 and bf2
