FTL - Faster than Light, Space Rogue - ( INDIE )

I was comparing apples with apples, FTL is a single player game. :)

As for MP games I personally would resent losing that much time to computer games. However when I was a kid I played Quake and CoD but that was 10-15 years ago.

You guys need to be more Selective on which gams you buy, or if unsure wait Untill the like a £5. Bar SWTOR and fallout 3, other disappointing games have been cheap. Stuff I purchased full price. Generally get thousands of hours from it.

I'm finding it quite hard to interpret what you are trying to say in this statement.

With the Engi ship, I have found no weapons for it! All the shops have nothing. Is the Kestrel better?

Good god no.

Engi is great, use ion on shields and deploy drone.

When you can find it, buy some lasers to target there weapons and a security drone is a must, I found they are usually got through helping people.
Don't use missiles, expensive and not needed with the engi ship due to ion cannon.

Once you get two lasers it's awesome. Ion of shield, one laser on weapons and one laser on their drone control off the have it.

Is the Kestrel considered a bit pants then?

It's the first ship you get. It relies on missiles which suck resources and can be hard to get. The ion cannon you get on engi is far superior.

Never got to end sector with the kestrel yet, first time with the engi ship I got to the end sector.

Got a good game going with the Kestral, managed to find a transporter and drone control. Have six crew in total, including two Rockmen and upgraded shields to three. Don't take much damage, but don't dish out much either without sending crew over to damage the enemy shields.

I'm in the final sector, but don't really want to face the boss and lose my wonderful ship.

If you take too long to face the boss, you'll lose the game. The thing to do is keep beaming crew over to take out their weapons one by one. They're in isolated compartments so they can't be repaired once you destroy them.

That's one thing I've yet to use, the crew teleporter - I'm worried about losing them!

Yeah fair point, I do like the Engi ship even in it's default form but add a laser and it starts to become quite formidable.

amazing game - great value for money, original, and bloody hard, even on easy! Have beat the end boss once, but died on the second time with the Kestrel - have failed to get back there!

Am I missing something? Game seemed epicly fun until I have died twice. I find the following odd unless I am wrong?

1. When you die the only thing you keep is the ships that you unlocked along the way. Any cool weapons you salvaged aren't available in an "inventory" to try out next time you have to restart? Was hoping to have crew members, etc available next time round to try out to stop it becoming the same over and over.

2. If you quit after an hour and have reached X level, do you have to start again or does it save which sector you arrived at? Haven't tried this yet.

Number 1 is my main bug at the moment. Would be nice if you could kit out your ships with stuff you have found or bought so far along the way otherwise it is the same old game over and over again if you die which is a bit too grind-diablo style for me :( I play a game to enjoy it rather than doing the same thing over and over and over.

It's not a bug. This game is a Roguelike. One of the things a game must do to be in this category is...

Roguelikes traditionally implement permadeath. Once a character dies, the player must begin a new game. A "save game" feature will only provide suspension of gameplay and not a limitlessly recoverable state; the stored session is deleted upon resumption or character death. Players can circumvent this by backing up stored game data ("save scumming"), an act that is usually considered cheating.

I personally love this type of gameplay :)

Just remember to teleport them back before destroying the ship :( Poor rockman, you did well son... RIP

It's easier with the engi ship because you can just use the ion gun to keep enemy weapons disabled, and it can't destroy the enemy. Then just divert as much power as you can spare to the teleporter so you can beam your guys back when they're on low health, heal them in sickbay, and send them back again. If the enemy ship has a sickbay, you'll have to disable that too, otherwise the enemy crew will keep running off to heal themselves.

As for the final boss fight, you don't even have to worry about that because its weapons are isolated. Just beam in your dudes, destroy the weapons, then just sit back and take your time killing it.

Pro tip: try not to kill ALL the crew in the boss ship. If you do, an AI takes over and it can repair the weapons. And by this point, I had already destroyed their life support, so I could no longer even beam my own dudes in without them suffocating.

The end boss is annoying, in a good way. It ran off twice, third time I was down to three hull bars, got the boss down to four but alas just couldn't quite manage to take of the missile bays... especially when they landed four drones on my ship!

Completed it twice. Kestral managed to beat the boss on the first time I got to the last sector, very pleased with that. And then again as an engi, though that was without any upgraded weapons. the only weapon I had was the first default EMP weapon it came with, and 3 laser drones. Just turned on the autofire with the emp on their shields, and let the drones slowly wail away on the flagship.

Currently trying to play through with the stealth ship, but I have no idea how you're supposed to do it with no shields D:

I have trouble with that one too. I'm going to try again tonight, by upgrading the cloak as much as I can afford. Even one level up would give me 10 seconds under cloak, which pretty much guarantees me the first shot. If that shot takes out their weapons, then it should all be okay. Trouble is I can't remember the starting guns for that stealth ship. Are they enough to take down a 1 point shield and hit the weapon array?

But if you want a crazy tough start, try the engi cruiser with Layout B. No sensors, so you can't even see inside your own ship, and only one crew member.
