The price isn't being driven up by UK buyers, the price increase is actually worldwide. Pretty sure it was in the news UK buyers were filling up less often due to these prices. This panic buying of fuel is to push up EV sales.
Once we are all on electric, it will be the same scenario I presume, sky rocketing prices to charge your vehicle, how much is it currently?

I don't need one. I have a hybrid.You don't have a Zap.map then!
Indeed, but it will happen and likely sooner than you think. That won't happen for long time by then all EV's will have 1,000/2,000 mile range

Don’t see any panic buying. There is a part of me that likes a good conspiracy theory and thinks the prices are increased so the oil produces make as much profit before EV’s take over. Or the increase is push to us onto EV’s quicker. This panic buying of fuel is to push up EV sales.
Why would the fuel producers want to push us to EVs quicker?Don’t see any panic buying. There is a part of me that likes a good conspiracy theory and thinks the prices are increased so the oil produces make as much profit before EV’s take over. Or the increase is push to us onto EV’s quicker.
I guess his point is that EVs will soon have such a large range that public chargers won't be needed as much. So the price they charge won't effect many people.Indeed, but it will happen and likely sooner than you think.
No, they just want to make as much money as they can before we all move over. They don’t want us too.Why would the fuel producers want to push us to EVs quicker?
1.5p per mile (Tesla, Octopus Go/Intelligent 7.5p kWh). I think my previous car, Golf R, would be around 35p atm (24mpg average).
They cannot differentiate between the elec I use in my house and that I use for my car.
27-32 miles/hourRoughly How many miles do you get if you charge overnight at 7.5p?
Yeah but these energy companies need to make their money somewhere, they will just charge a really hefty amount when you do need to charge.I guess his point is that EVs will soon have such a large range that public chargers won't be needed as much. So the price they charge won't effect many people.
Just charge it at home.Yeah but these energy companies need to make their money somewhere, they will just charge a really hefty amount when you do need to charge.
Is that going to be much cheaper in the future with prices increasing.Just charge it at home.
Even on the current price cap it's still less than half the cost of a petrol car at the moment so I'd say it's going to be cheaper for a while yet.Is that going to be much cheaper in the future with prices increasing.
Intelligent Octopus is 7 hours, 1.5p a mile is based on 200w per mile. So at 7.4kWh that's 37 miles per hour less a little when transferring to the car.Roughly How many miles do you get if you charge overnight at 7.5p?
