Fuel up/down again

One interesting statistic I heard from someone in the industry, BP etal make more money per litre on the Coffee in the petrol stations than the petrol!

Yet joe public blames the oil companies for the prices not the government...

Please note that this was produced a few years back.... But you get the idea!

Show that to Joe Public.

Thanks for the replies regarding my earlier question.

a lot of people who get paid mileage are going to suffer as a consequence of the rises as well, Im ok at the moment but after I do 10,000 miles it goes down to 25p a mile coupled with the increase in fuel a lot of people will barely break even

This has been on my mind too. It's been 40p / 25p for as long as I can recall yet prices have risen. My fuel cost is about 15-16p per mile. Tax about 1p per mile. Routine servicing and MOT another 2p per mile. I haven't factored in tyres or other consumables, break down cover, faults or depreciation.

I get 15p a mile as it's a company car - so I don't come under that 10k mile rule AFAIK. However, yes, it's a good point you make, something I was considering when it comes to reknewing my company car - do I keep it or go down the road of using my car and getting my allowance back into my salary.
