Fuel up/down again

Time to start pushing i feel....

I tried that but I found that pushing my car was way more effort than walking. Also feeding myself with pies to give me the energy to keep going was more expensive than petrol ;)

Seriously though it is getting to the point where it is impacting my work... mainly because as budgets get squeezed in general some of the organisations I work for are only paying 20 or 25ppm now for travel. My car costs nearly 20ppm in petrol alone so for me this isn't acceptable and I claim back 40ppm from my employer and they get paid the 20 or 25. The difference goes straight onto my expenditure figures.

The subsidised lease users are starting to get a bit peeved too as they are being paid between 8 and 12ppm so even those who opted for the most economical cars are on the borderline of supplementing their work fuel out of their own pockets.

There is a chance that my job will move and my commute rise from 6 to 60 miles a day with less business miles. If that happens my current car will be gone within a month.

Bad times :(

Unleaded 95 just hit £1.00 here. Might sound cheap to you guys but the rate at which it's gone up is mental over the past 3-4 months.

Sure I can afford it, but it's beginning to annoy the hell out of me (miserly git) how much petrol is going into the Alfa, and out again considering the low mileage I do.

No knee-jerk reaction from me yet, but, engine downsizing is on the cards in the not too distant future if it keeps going like this, really cant justify it to myself.

The Guardian said:
Nonetheless, Osborne has indicated that a delay in the 1p per litre duty increase – which leaps to 5p once inflation and VAT are factored in, according to RMI – might be possible

You got to love these *******s don't you - they make you pay tax on a tax.

Awww how terrible.

I remember thinking how expensive it was when it hit £1 here. That was only a couple of years ago.

We will never see £1 a litre again - if it oil falls back, which it might once it's caused havoc with the global economy, the government have piled too much additional duty on fuel between now and the last time prices were sky high - almost 10p.

I'm surprised that nobody is blocking the petrol stations like they did years ago.

Is there like a new law or something for that?

I think you can get done under the anti terror laws that came in to protect us from the likes of the Taliban...or at least that was my understanding from when the strikes were proposed a few years ago, I am sure somebody will clarify.

Wasn't expecting mock sympathy/sarcasm lads, par for the course these days ey.

More to say that things are catching up here in similar fashion, and i'm beginning to understand the whole engine downsizing/diesel (eek) argument in my head. Had it too good for too long. Something I only briefly thought about in passing in the past, but will give it some serious thought whenever I change cars. 90% of my mileage is stop start or under 30mph here, 10 minute journeys. Not something my current car excels at by any means.
