Fuel up/down again

No, and don't intend to get one any time soon ...

A strong pound may hurt some of our exports, but since we are a net importer it should help overall.

So do you intend to still be renting when you are 60?

We don't really want to be a net importer, so cheap imports are bad, and expensive exports are bad.

We don't need to export physical goods though, we need to export IP & innovation.

Things need to be designed and engineered in this country, then built elsewhere

even with the 1p drop ive not noticed any sations around me drop.

Yesterday when i drove to work the Diesel was 136.9, when i drove home it was 137.9 and when i drove to work this morning it was back at 136.9....thanks for that government.

Am i understanding this whole fuel thing right.....

The government has introduced a stabiliser that will basically cap the minimum price per litre at around abouts todays rate but it can definitely go up, it just will never go below last nights rate?

If thats the case why wasnt this done last year when fuel was less than £1.20 per litre and the government stated that there was no possible way on earth that the fuel duty could be cancelled or reduced?

Or am i misreading the info and interpreting it to fit my current mood

Nothing wrong with doing both, plenty of jobs and significant supply chain structure on the back of a well designed product? Unless £2bn of orders for the supply chain of the Range Rover Evoque and 2500 jobs building it should go overseas aswell?

Its not as good as exporting products though is it, we licensed the IP to the harrier to the Americans which made some money, but now they have designed the F-35 to replace their harriers so we won't be making nay more money from that contract, if we had just exported a load of harriers we would have made money from that and maintenance contracts, etc.

To all the "waaaa it's only 1p" types. Are you forgetting that thanks to Labour, the duty was due to increase by 5p next week? So in effect we've had a 6p saving on what things could have been like. Not bad if you ask me, considering the mess of the country's finances.

Exactly.

I've heard people whinging about it only being -1p today... overlooking the fact that Labour left this country financially ****ed and were banking on the +5p in their flawed sums!

TBH for political points it would have been better for the Chancellor to leave Labour's 5p rise, let it run for a few days and then bring it back down after people have had a few days paying 139.9p/L. Would have scored him way more points.

Still, I filled up today and the petrol station had honoured the -1p. Yesterday it was 134.99p/L and today it's 133.99p/L. Bargain.

To be 'fair', so far the only increases were legislated for by the previous government.

Hi, I think you've fallen for politicians bs, yes it was the previous government, however the tories, and I mean both, didn't have to stay with it. However they did then they can blame labour, remember it is the tories that put up VAT, when they didn't have to.
It realy doesn't matter who does wht, it is the PRESENT governement that is making billions out of the motorist and thay seem to be able to get away with blaming everyone else.
Anyway isn't it about time we stopped being held to ransom by the oil producers and speculators?
Chris

The speculation thing is a huge problem - much of the higher price of oil is as a result of artificial demand from people who don't actually want the oil and will never take delivery of it.
