Fuel up/down again

Why do people continue to brim their cars? Do you fill the boot with bricks too?

Lol, I use a tank after 1.5 weeks, I don't want to be fuelling up every few days, plus driving to the station, stopping starting, my time alone is worth more than the money saved with a slightly lighter weighted car.

I think he's one of those people who believes you save loads of money by only part filling your tank.

He also believes that anyone facing a trial by Jury "must be innocent" because there "obviously isn't enough hard evidence".

The guy is clearly lacking in braincells, don't waste your ire on him.

I've only part filled if its a loan car, don't see the point of keep going back for £10 here and there.

Agreed.

The whole "you're carrying extra weight cos you have a full tank" methology is totally flawed when you have to make 3 times as many trips to the petrol station.

Yup, I have a 70 litre tank, assuming for arguments sake petrol weighs the same as water im carrying 35kg less if I half fill the tank, that's 5.5 stone, less than a passenger, and tbh ive done the same 300mi trip with/without a passenger and notice a significant change in the cost to fill the tank back up...

Nice to see the price drop. Even though it's only 3p. So it'll be 129.9/128.9 ish....

As for filling up... Don't do full tanks here only now and then. Just do a half a tank that lasts me about 2 weeks.

I have a digital fuel display gauge so I just fill it up when it gets to 1/4 full. Usually about £40/50 odd. The car has a 42 litre tank so it should not cost more than £60 to fill up at the current prices.

Hi, I part fill my car because £40 lasts me a month, someone I know from another forum managed to get over 1000miles out of his tankful on a run. The car was a Mk4 2.2l diesel mondeo..

Petrol weighs .711Kg/litre, so its even less than that.

Oh he's that guy. My bad for not noticing his username!

 Petrol price plummeting here and should go down further, filled up in Bakersfield at $3.77 a gallon (Though it's always about 10-20c/gallon cheaper there than in SB) - percentage-wise the cost has dropped around 15% in the last month or so.

Mind you I crunch through petrol though :p Usually brim it every 400 miles or so at about $60-65 a fill-up.

(Yes I know it's largely irrelevant to everyone here and so super cheap etc but pth pth pth)

Have to agree with Overlag. i don't see the point and petrol has pretty much trended continaully upwards or has stayed static recently. The minimal saving made by not filling up completely is outweighed by even a 1p rise i'd have thought, and less trips to the pump.

I've only put two fill ups on mine and got the average after putting in the second set. It should be in the top right corner of the fill up on the main screen.
