Fuji X Series

I’m used to using a Sony A7iii and it’s very different with all the dials.

Took me 20 minutes to figure out the dials have locks on :p

I know early days but how are you finding it compared to your Sony?

I'm still on the fence between an X-T4 and an A7 III (given the A7 III is currently cheaper than the X-T4 body).

A lot of people have always disliked the Sony menu system but I find it much easier to navigate than the Fuji, maybe that’s just down to how long I had the Sony compared to the Fuji. :)

I’m going out tomorrow with the X-T3 so I can report back how I found it. :)

Please do :) I've read literally everything available on both but have yet to hear anything from someone who owns both in terms of IQ etc.

Thanks :)

Haven't looked at YouTube then.... loads of comparisons on there :)

Unfairly comparing it to my A7R3, the image quality was never a concern to be honest, and neither was dynamic range. I love the images I got out of it.

Didn't manage to get out the house as it's been a washout all day and still raining now. :(

Just been messing around today, finding stuff to shoot :p As you can see, the image quality is brilliant. :)

I got out today with the Samyang, and am playing with focus peeking and the manual focussing. The IQ is great at F5.6

Still a lot to learn however, but that's more to do with the camera than the lens.

Just out of interest what are people using for importing/exporting the RAF files?

Following on from what was said earlier, I've installed the free version of Capture One 20, but I'm not really sure I'm getting on with it. I can see its powerful, but it's something else I have to learn. I still prefer importing into the Silkypix software then exporting directly to a JPEG which I open up in Lightroom/Affinity. Sort of defeats the object however.

If you don’t want the ‘wormy’ effect on contrasty details converting to dng is the best way on lightroom.
I was one who mentioned capture one before and I swear by it. I dabbled with it in the past but did not like it as it can be daunting at first. However I wouldn’t edit with anything else now. You get so much more control and for the first time I really enjoy doing my edits. I could spend hours on one photo.

Wormy effect is easy to work with, just set detail to 0, radius to 0.5 and use sharpening slider between 75-110 to taste.

hmm well I’m using standalone 6.14 and it doesn’t work. I’m just reading I need to convert them to a DNG first?

You'll be missing out on all those lovely Fujifilm Film simulations if you don't use an up to date editor. Have a look at Capture 1 Express for Fujifilm, it's free for the essentials.

Oh I know. But they're just filters aren't they. I've got paid for ones in LR which are similar.

Any "worm" issues I had with Lightroom disappeared with the introduction of the "enhance photo" option, I find this solves the issue very, very well.
