Fuji X Series

Even though I have been singing the virtues of the XC35 I’m actually considering selling my copy now. Since I purchased the 23 1.4 it’s barely seen the light of day which is a shame as it’s a cracking little lens but just not as useful (to me).
I am considering eventually replacing it with the 50 f2 - it’s not quite the 56 1.2 I know but I struggle with the razor thin depth of field on the 23mm as it is so I think f2 would be plenty.

What software do you all use for post processing your Fuji images?

I understand Lightroom gives worms and doesn't play very nicely. I'm currently playing with the Capture One Fuji Express edition but it's bit of a learning curve.

I own DXO as well but haven't had a play with Fuji .RAF files yet.

Capture One and love it. The film simulation tool is incredible, it’s usually my first port of call when editing an image.

I use a number of apps. But usually find myself back in LR 6.14 to finish off. If you use silkypix to convert the raw files you can adjust the film simulation there. But I tend to do that using the camera.

it’s a toss up between LR and affinity to process afterwards

I got one of these on day 1 and really like it.

JJC USB Dual Battery Charger for Fujifilm X-T4: Amazon.co.uk: Camera & Photo

Never a fan of charging in camera in case it gets knocked by someone and breaks the port
I still haven’t got round to ordering new batteries yet and wanted to go out tonight and try for some Astro shots as it’s a very cold dry night.

Was going to charge my camera up via USB in my car while I travel to a less light polluted area.

I spent my first proper day out shooting with the X-T4 today and I've got mixed feelings on it so far.

I think I need to play about with the AF settings a bit as it's very hit and miss. Certain images at fast shutter speeds were soft throughout, yet hand held shots at 1/15 were pin sharp.

I feel a bit let down by the build quality, I don't know if this is just Fuji vs Canon but the shutter button wobbles all over the place and the flip screen makes a small squeak when rotated. I had a 60D before with a similar rotating screen and after 4 years that was still solid with no noises, certain parts just don't feel too 'premium', especially on a brand new camera.

I've also noticed 2 small white pixels in the EVF that go away when focusing but come back when focus has been achieved, not visible when viewing the menus through the EVF so I'm not sure what these are.

There are a few 'hot' pixels in all my images too.

For such an expensive camera I (so far) feel a bit deflated with it but will see how I get on with it over the next week or so before deciding if it should go back and get something else :(

I’m sure most of that will work out after some time with the camera, if you do end up moving away from Fuji then I can recommend the Sony A7iii, their glass is amazing, especially the GM lenses.

Well the X-T4 went back to the London Camera Exchange today and I have another new kit to setup and try out now.

Decided I couldn't ignore the dead/stuck pixels in the EVF and LCE agreed it shouldn't be on a new camera out the box. I understand you're always likely to get a few on sensors but I personally found them really annoying in the EVF.

Credit to London Camera Exchange, they've been brilliant, we're in Tier 4 here and they still have staff in the shops to deal with complaints (though you aren't allowed in). Called to check they had new stock, dropped old camera off, they had a quick check to make sure everything was in the box and 10 minutes later called me saying a new kit was ready to pick up :)

Hopefully this one is better else my venture with Fuji will be sadly short lived and I'll be moving onto something else.

I'm enjoying life with the XT-3, but as has been said, it is a totally different beast. I've been used to Nikon and this is so different but I think the positives outweigh that. The film simulation is quality and the overall colour seems more vibrant than a stock Nikon photo. Just a personal observation of course. But then again, this is a more expensive camera than I had before, so that might be something too.

Can't fault that service, one of the benefits of spending more for a UK sourced item.
