Fuji X Series

That’s a bargain.

I missed on the XS10,so was even more surprised when I saw this. But packaging was non-existent.Curry's just put it in a bag,and the side of the box had a hole!

Is the 16-80MM any good? I have the Fuji standard lenses(16-50MM/50-230MM),the XF 16MM/F2.8 and Viltrox 13MM/F1.4 but want to get a better telephoto lens(either the XF 70-300MM or Sigma 100-400MM). I mostly use the two Prime lenses with the XT20.

That’s an amazing bargain for both the XT5 and XS10.

Can’t speak for the 16-80 but the best advice I can give is to take it out for a shoot and determine if you like it or not. Who cares what the internet thinks? Unless you’re a pro selling images, decide for yourself if you like using the lens and if the images please you.

Despite my sage advice above, I’m going to ask for opinions on a lens :D

Has anyone used the Samyang 12mm f/2.0? One has come up locally for about half rrp and I might snap it up. The only use case I have for it is shooting the aurora next month if I get clear skies.

Is it the MF version? It’s an alright lens but when picked up for the right price it does represent great value for money. For me, it’s pretty much the worst ultra wide angle offering for Fujifilm but that’s only because it’s up against some pretty stiff competition. I’d still rather have the 10-24mm or the Viltrox 13mm over the Samyang.
But as I say, these lenses come with a premium and if the Samyang can be had for a good price (as you mention) then it’s always worth a try.

I was keen on the Viltrox 13mm but at £400 I’m not sure it would give me £250 extra, which could go into the 35mm f/1.4 fund. I’m not a pixel peeper and tend to prefer the less polished look anyway (or at least that’s my excuse for being crap…). I’ll take a punt and see how it goes. Worst case scenario I should be able to move it on with no loss.

The Viltrox 13mm is one of the sharpest lenses I have used in the last decade and does great Sunstars too. The distortion is well controlled too.

For those of you who use manual lenses, after setting the mount adapter setting to to the correct focal length for the IBIS, do you have to set it again to match the Fuji lenses or does that happen automatically when the AF lens is fitted?
