Fuji X Series

I've just reduced my MM to match Fuji refurb plus £11 for recored and insured delivery.... I need to start posting on TP lol

I sold my mint 35mm/2.0 for £210 because of the already low price on the Fuji refurb store. It literally sold within 24 hours. Same with the 23mm/2.0 too.

I bought my 35mm f2 from the refurb store, it was like new, also bought a x pro 1 , again like new.

Ordered a 10-24 today, they had 10 this morning, 5 left now, comes tomorrow.

Getting a x-t2 on import for £999, the refurb price is £1199.

Import is dodgy mate... I know if I am spending that kind of money I want a full manufactures warranty!

You won't get this with an import and most of the time the repair centre won't touch them, even if you are paying...

Ive just had a 5d4 100-400mk2 16-35 f4 is come today on import, at better than ******* prices.

I think £999 is decent for a new x-t2 , cant say ive had much camera gear go wrong , been having import things since the 300d came out.

Canon replaced a shutter on a 40D once on import, free.

Fair enough, not sure I've got the balls to risk it myself... plus would rather put my money back in to our economy, but that's a debate for another evening lol

FYI, I think Canon CPS has stopped grey import being registered on the CPS scheme. I imported both 5D4 and neither of them would register.

That being said, saving £1k each on the body I said £2k overall, the way I look at it is I could get on a plane and go back and take a holiday and get it repaired should I need to, the CPS centre in HK is very central and easy to get to.

That, or buy a new one for £2500...

If the savings are less, I tend to stay with UK stock, like lenses. I bought my 35L mk2 from Amazon, import would save me another £150.

FUJI uk won't repair under warranty a grey market camera but they do fix them at cost .

Traded my 35mm 1.4 and 60mm in at the weekend, finally got my hands on the 56mm 1.2!

Can't wait to start playing with this thing. I rarely used the 60mm, and the 35mm wasn't a big enough jump from my favourite 23mm 1.4.

Let the bokeh begin!!

Decisions, decisions. How much did you get for the trade?

Thinking about selling my unused camera stuff (canon 60d, 70-200mm f4) keeping the 5dmark2 and a few primes and getting a xt10 with a 35mm lens.
I saw on the refurb shop that I can get the xt10 with the 35mm 1.4 for about £50 less than the 2.0 version.

I understand there are a lot of issues with the 1.4, are these genuine or a bit overhyped?
Ie if im used to the canon af system and noise am I going to be appaled if I go for the 1.4 over the 2.0?

Im looking for something small and light to take on walks, days out, taking nice portrait shots of the kid.
thanks in advance.

In my opinion, if you're buying the Fuji to be a small and light walkabout then you should go for the f2. I believe it's a lot smaller and lighter than the f1.4 (sorry I can't be bothered to find a comparison :p). It's the only lens I have on my XT10 and I think it's great. Unless you *really* need the extra stop I don't see why you would buy an older lens. The f2 has better AF and has weather sealing, too.

EDIT: Not actually much difference in size or weight :p https://www.fujivsfuji.com/35mm-f1pt4-vs-35mm-f2-wr/

35mm no, 23mm has a bigger difference.

I can't comment on the 35mm as I only had the 1.4, but there must be a big difference in the 23mm. The 1.4 sells for £700 odd (from the top of my head). Why would anyone buy that if the f/2 is nearly as good?!

I have the 1.4 version and it's my favourite Fuji lens, sharp wide open and super sharp stopped down a bit edge to edge. A bit heavier but I travel for a living and I'm not complaining at all. Have a look how big the Sony 35mm 1.4 is (full frame equivalent) and you'll soon appreciate the difference!

I'm still completely confused about all these noise comments with some Fuji lenses. People say the 23mm 1.4 is loud etc. I've never heard a peep from it! The 60mm made a bit of noise, other than that, silence.

Lol You just hear the gears moving. "Loud" is probably the wrong word to use unless you have super sensitive hearing.

This! With electronic shutter I've used the 35 and 23 f.14s in a church. Not even a raised eyebrow. And I was very glad of the extra stop.
