Fuji X Series

Extension tubes v the Xf 60mm. Has anybody used them and is there any reasonable grounds for selling the 60mm to pay towards the cost of the 56mm? I'm thinking it may be feasible to use extention tubes with my other lenses as opposed to keeping the 60mm.

Edit: Just ordered the 56mm but do I still keep the 60mm?

With the extension tubes are you thinking about Macro photography?

If so I would look at getting rid of the 60mm and buying the Zeis Macro lens instead which is a true 1:1 lens

Yeah I was Zaf. I didn't realise there was a Zeis Macro.

There sure is and it supports AF too unlike the Samyang lenses, Macro work you'll prob be using manual anyway though..

I've got no experience with this lens but can't be bad coming from Zeis... I think!

Personally I'm quite interested in the XF 80mm f/2.8 Macro which should be a 1:1 macro lens with OIS - on the Fuji roadmap for the end of this year. I currently use a Kiron 105mm f/2.8 I got from ebay which, while decent, is about as old as me (and not far off of my weight either), and generally needs a flash even for still subjects at any decent depth of field.
Just something to bear in mind when thinking about macro lenses.

Lovely as always Raymond, I've finally given in to temptation and picked up an xt-10 to replace my eos-m which has been seeing more use than my 5D mkii lately. Just got to decide bettween the 23mm f2 and the 27mm f2.8 for my go to prime now!

Thanks,

Why X-T10? It's £300 used i can see, but I only laud £350 for my X-T1.

Size and weight, I want tiny I've got use to the eos-m which is about as small as an apsc camera gets! I would have gone for one of the smaller viewfinderless fuji models but I'm thinking the xt-10 might replace my 5D as well. Since having two kids the 5D has seen less and less use as I need something that's easier to pack.

Really I wanted an eos m6 but canons continued lack of investment in the lens line up has put me off the 22mm is fab but nothing else has grabbed me.

I have the 27mm for my X-T10 and it is a very compact package, I use it when I just want to stick the camera in my pocket. It's sharp wide open and quick to focus. I do always opt for my 35mm 1.4 though when I can though. I haven't tried the 23mm f2 though.

XT-10 arrives tomorrow with 16-50mm kit lens really looking forward to having a play! Was sad to see the first bit of my eos-m kit go today but this should be a nice step up.

Still can't pick a prime might just pick up a 27mm second hand as they are peanuts and I won't loose anything if I sell it in.

Has anyone moved from a FF to something like the X-T2?

I mainly use a D810 but recently it's not getting as much use as it should (its a hobby), I tend to use my drone a lot and on trips I use my X100T due to size...

The D810 is great and I have been waiting for the replacement hopefully in July, however I'm thinking of making the switch to something smaller maybe the Fuji X-T2 as a lot of the time the amount of gear/weight puts me off. Problem is I'm not sure how the sacrifices will affect me. I'm a little concerned about weather sealing, dynamic range, low light etc, Lens quality etc.

The D810 doesn't get used much now probably once a month. I'm going North Wales in July and will use it and my drone a fair bit then. But then I'm in the Houston with work and really can't carry my DSLR gear. So I'm thinking I'll get more use out of a camera I have with me than one I often leave at home. But then I'm off to Iceland again in December, how will the X-T2 cope then...arggghhhh

Interested to hear from anyone who has done the switch or thinking of doing so.

Yep. I sold my D3 (with various pro spec lenses) and moved to the X-T1. I still have the X-T1, I've just bought an X-T2 now too.

I've had no regrets at all.

Weather sealing - the Fuji bodies are weather sealed, and a lot of lenses are, but some aren't. I've had no issues with this.
Dynamic range - the DR on Fujis is insane. Literally awesome! Just read some reviews.
Low light - even the X-T1 is fantastic, paired with an OIS lens, I've had no issues.

I had an X100 with the D3 too, and like you, I used the X100 more than the Nikon. Hence why I moved....

I travel the world for a living, and the ability to take a camera this capable with a few lenses is fantastic. The lenses are amazing, and half the size and weight of the FF equivalents.

You seriously won't regret it at all. So many people are making the switch.....that's why Nikon and Canon are a little worried at the moment!

I think this all depends on if yo are a bokeh addict as this is the biggest difference these days, dynamic range, low light etc etc are all pretty close these days.

My XT-10 is here and I'm hooked it's so nice to use, just need a compact prime or two now!

I'd say you have the sweet spot "all in one" already in the X100T- 23mm, reasonably fast, and the creative opportunities of the leaf shutter and ND filter. I've been toying with the idea of an X100 but am worried the rest of my Fuji gear will never get used (much like my Canon gear).

Loving the upgrades in the X-T2. The vertical screen is probably my favourite so far haha! So many shots I've not quite taken right as I couldn't see the horizon line properly in the X-T1.
