Fuji X Series

I'd say you have the sweet spot "all in one" already in the X100T- 23mm, reasonably fast, and the creative opportunities of the leaf shutter and ND filter. I've been toying with the idea of an X100 but am worried the rest of my Fuji gear will never get used (much like my Canon gear).

The X100 is brilliant, I use it a lot but I couldn't imagine just having that, I just wouldn't bring it on a landscape shoot and it certainly wouldn't be suitable for the motorsport etc.

Anyone recommend a soft shutter release for an XT-10 Amazon and ebay seem to be littered with hundreds of similar options! Ideally I want one that doesn't come undone all the time!

For my X100 I ordered one off the bay that was just titled Pro Quality Shutter Button Soft Release Metal Concave Red, it was under £4 and worked/fitted fine

Dab a little bit of clear nail polish or blue thread lock on it. I did that to my x100t agrees ago and it's not budged a bit. Don't go overboard with it though.

It's been rumoured for a while but it's just that i think, unlikely fFuji will buy Nikon but I guess they could co-operate more or buy a share.

What makes you say that? Fuji are a lot lot bigger company than Nikon

Yep. I sold my D3 (with various pro spec lenses) and moved to the X-T1. I still have the X-T1, I've just bought an X-T2 now too.

I've had no regrets at all.

Weather sealing - the Fuji bodies are weather sealed, and a lot of lenses are, but some aren't. I've had no issues with this.
Dynamic range - the DR on Fujis is insane. Literally awesome! Just read some reviews.
Low light - even the X-T1 is fantastic, paired with an OIS lens, I've had no issues.

I had an X100 with the D3 too, and like you, I used the X100 more than the Nikon. Hence why I moved....

I travel the world for a living, and the ability to take a camera this capable with a few lenses is fantastic. The lenses are amazing, and half the size and weight of the FF equivalents.

You seriously won't regret it at all. So many people are making the switch.....that's why Nikon and Canon are a little worried at the moment!

Sorry for some reason I missed your post, that's encourging to know. Think I'll have to visit a camera store for a proper trial.

I'm going to a 1940s weekend in a couple of weeks which will have lots of photo opportunity but the thought of carrying a heavy DSLR around all day is putting me off, probably end up taking the X100.

But what would they gain from buying nikon apart from some massive financial losses to add to the balance sheet?
Potentially patents and technology/research cooperation, as well as access to Nikons huge customer base. Thats the main ones I can think of. However, whether that fits with Fuji's strategy is another matter.

Surprisingly it was actually the girlfriend that said I should buy it. She pointed out that probably 70% of the pictures I have on the wall from Cuba were shot with that lens (when I rented it). I think it's a perfect angle. Great for street shots, great for landscapes, great for architecture. :)

I think my aim would be to have the 14mm, 23mm, 35mm and then a 50mm+ telephoto depending on budget when I get there :D

So, next up is the 23mm :D

Just out of interest, what IS setting is everybody using and why- and for the 56mm what are your favourite aperture settings pending environmental conditions.

23/1.4, and I shoot wide open....because my favourite focal length and i am a bokeh whore. :)
