Fuming!

If changing the IMEI number was possible are you saying you would have fixed those stolen phones for him? Why don't you stop being bullied by a con man, and report him and give the phones to the police.

You don't need advice, you need a set of balls, roaring and shouting at you outside your own home? should have stuck the phones up his ****

And todays "I only read the OP award goes to......"

Get rid as soon as possible, it won't be good if you're found with 3 stolen handsets in your possession. Ring the police and let them know, give them all the IMEIs for them, he could get in to a few issues over having them.

From now on, take note of the IMEI of all the phones you fix. :p

"should have would should have would should have would have"

The above restricts you from ever having a valid opinion, ever.

because op is (probably) a fine fixed abode upstanding citizen.. what can op do to a scumbag?

1) hit scum bag and op gets a criminal record and his windows broken
2) threaten scum bag and get broken windows and reported to the police
3) report stolen phone to police and get beaten by scum bag and broken windows

how can you win against a madman or scum bag.. without it costing a lot of money, time or effort...

the best action is (assuming its not too expensive) give the money back.. say sorry.. say you were in teh wrong... and walk away...

Update:
Called the police, they said they will come over on monday to collect the phones and take a statement.

They said that if he comes back and is at all violent then i need to call the police

Perhaps a simple spread sheet for your orders going forwards could give you more backup.

Log the IMEI in the presence of the customer and have them sign a receipt with a statement of their IMEI when the handset is handed over.

Then ditto that when they receive it back, demo'ing the working phone with identical IMEI on receipt.

Oh - and cash up front.

Wow, some of these replies are absolutely shocking...what the hell does his financial situation got to do with someone coming to his house being utterly threatening?

OP, good that you've called the Police. The next thing you need to do is put up in the front of your window by the front door (so it's visible without opening the door), "These premises are monitored by CCTV" with a CCTV camera image. You could even put "These premises and grounds..."

You have obviously stumbled upon a nutter and unfortunately he knows where you live. Having worked from home and inviting Jo public inside I know exactly what you must be thinking at the moment.

If he is coming tomorrow (Sunday) and the Police aren't coming until Monday you have a problem. I'd ring the Police again and get their advice as to what to do if he does show. I would also have either a phone or a camera recording somewhere where it covers the whole door area so it can record exactly what happens and what he says. Make sure it's somewhere out of reach where he can't grab it. If you are really worried I'd be tempted to have another camera hidden recording the scene, perhaps hidden in a vase of flowers or plant, just in case he tries to grab the first camera.

Hopefully if he sees the CCTV sign he'll think twice about over-reacting and especially about any retribution in the future.

And having a friend there as a witness wouldn't be a bad idea. Not a great day to spend the day however.

I have balls mate, But I'm not one to assault a person for only being slightly pushed.. Would land me in the crapper for a start.
Would you have done so? rly? or is it a case of Keyboard warrior ?
