Fuming!

Why the hell would the police care about taxes?

They probably wouldn't be interested, but I bet their friends over at HMRC would be. That is assuming that these repairs are done off the books and cash in hand, if they're being done legit then neither will be interested.

Report stolen phones to police and get their advice on what to do when the guy comes back.

This

Surely if workign on mobile phones and things you were noting serilas/IMEIs or marking them with a UV pen?

Used to do that all the time when I repaired consoles, theres always some ****
that expects to be able to switch stuff about and blame you.

sounds dodgy - why would he have 3 broken phones all with the same problem? Almost sounds like a competitor.

I would advise you give him his money back and tell him to go somewhere else - not worth the hassle :)

I can't believe people give out there home address before getting there home addy & Home phone number ?
Any selling I do from my house starts with me getting there Home phone number & calling them back on it, No house phone number then **** off.
I live on my own & me & my dog are quite capable of handling idiots/scammers/Jehovahs Witnesses :D , You people live with women kids & family but you carry on without a care in the world to what you are bringing to your front door.

30,000 since iPhone release is only 5,000/year which is below the tax threshold. IE no tax!

Being a working musician I have to disagree with this.
I have several times stood in a tax office being told that if I had only done 1 gig for £50 in my pocket they still want a cut of it BUT I would have to go through the correct procedures to pay it.
In other words I would have to fill a tax form in and go through the whole process so it might be advisable to get an accountant.
Absolutely 100% after the form had been filled in you could end up getting money back but you still need to DECLARE the £50 by law.

Hi peeps

He didn't come back today, i have got one of those signs that says CCTV in operation above my front door and stuck one of those dome camera (minus the camera) above the door, makes it look nice and real :D

Oh and to people on this thread that are wondering if i pay tax, i do declare it but i don't get enough each year to warrant paying anything.

So how much do you need to earn before paying tax. Yet you said you have fixed 3000 devices? .... even if it was £1.00 per fix that would be £3000 but you said around £15.00 which sums have already been calculated so I'm confused.

£9K is it? or £6K ?

EDIT: This tax year (2012-13) the basic Personal Allowance - or tax-free amount - is £8,105

He already said he doesn't get £15 per fix, as not all problems are screen related.

If they were all screens, then he earned £45,000 in 5 1/2 years (since iPhone 1 came out he said). That is less than £9,000 per year.

If you consider not all were screen problems, then he is under the limit.

Hopefully, we can now all stop worrying if he pays tax or not, and focus more on the actual problem.
