Its only £500 as its DX10 though, i bet if it was just another refreshed DX9 card it would'nt be £500, all your paying for DX10.
agreed because it is the first dx10 capable card nvidia has slapped a hefty premeum on it , had is holding back stock , i mean really how many performance heads acount for the whole of gfx sales ? about 1 or 2 % , nvidia could easily have enough g80 out for demand , if they wanted , it is hardly going to be like the demand for the ps3 is it ;)

look i would be the first to admit if the g80 was say £350 yes i would get it over any other card , as it will be the fastest single card out there and i havnt got a gfx card yet for my comp , hell i might get a cheap pci card just now to see what happens to the g80 price after it has been out a few weeks

Rubbish,

You're not, you are paying for a next Gen card.

The 7900 GTX where 499 on this very site on release as it was a new gen card.

If it pulls 12k at stock in 06 then its good value as thats around 100 quid cheaper than two GTX's amd you only use one GFX slot :D

Cheaper too than two X1950 in xfire aswell

i wouldnt pay £500 for any single card , it bloddy outrageous , its ok saying its only 130 more than a gx2 , fine but you still have to shell out 370 for the gx2 , and unless you have evga step up program you will have to sell the gx2 at a loss before buying g80 lol

What has buying a GX2 got to do with anything?

Looking at it that way the GX2 for 380 or the G80 for 500 its a no brainer

and how long did it take for the 7900 gtx to drop in price?

because a lot of people on here has stated that the g80 is ONLY 130 more than the gx2

my point is it still costs £500 !
if your lucky , if ocuk dont get the 200 or more than 200 people want one , expect the price to be nearer £600

So? a GX2 costs £380 and its slower much slower.

500 for a new Gen card is nothing new?

I dont see your point.

To be fair you can't say the GX2 is much slower, as no one knows yet. :)

Yes it will be slower, but by how much is anyones guess, could be much slower as you say, then again it might not be.

Fair enough,

But I think it will have to be a lot faster than the GX2 to make any real impact.

Its selling point is not really DX 10 (not for the wise anyway) its selling point will its speed.

If it offers the perfromance of two 7900 GTX's in Sli then NV are onto a winner.

Two GeForce 7950 GT 512MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual will cost 400 quid so if the G80 offers speeds faster than this then its gonna be a nice card to own

Hmmm... So you don't think Nvidia are going to be using it's compatability with DX10 to justify the price? I think they will be, to a degree. But I also think it will offer a nice boost in performance from a GX2.

All the poeple on here who will be getting the G80 are not getting it for the DX10 features.

Just for the speed and the heck of it lol.

TBH if I didnt have the step up program to turn to I'd probably have a play with with two X1950 pros in Xfire lol :D

Well Crysis is supposed to be Feb 7th, so if you want a G80, get one when Crysis comes out for a lot less than £500 as your not missing anything if you get one then.

TBH it might take this long in the waiting List.

The beauty of the list is you keep your GX2 until they are ready to ship the New card out to you.

So I might get it when crysis hits lol

I would imagine there is a fair few on this list lol. :p

Is it me or does everyone think that all the G80 is for, is running DX10 games?

Do they not know that their DX9 games will run faster also?

No need for SLI for some super frame rates?

....surprised at how little info there is on the G80, I know there's the specs, but no genuine benchies or anuthing. People take these nda's so seriously....

No we all know it runs DX9 faster, we all want to know by how much, is it going to be worth £500 if its only say 15-20fps faster than your GX2 if you have one, id say hell no, for £500 if i had a GX2 that was getting say 120fps, id want the G80 to be getting 240fps for £500, but it aint gona happen. :p

People are excited, when people are excited, they hope. And when they hope they talk. I'm sure people realise the G80 will give increases on DX9 games, they arent stupid afterall. DX10 is new, buying a card to run DX10 is ofcourse going to be a high selling point.

I for one, Am not going anywhere near DX9 now, I've stuck with my 5200 this long, And WILL keep strong until the G80 release or the equivalent. I may even wait for the follow up, As I'm sure the 1st Generation will have its bugs.

Many people here are saying it's a waste.

Well back in mid july I got my new system and I thought very heavily on graphics card, do I get a cheap one to do my by or get the current best or close.

Not a GX2 but a single 7900GTX and it was faulty so I got a refund.
Then I thought to myself I can see I'll be getting a 24" LCD down the line (which I did last week) and I don't really want to go SLI (Board needs hacked drivers for it - more money if not..bleh) and crossfire well, nothing new in the near enough future.

So I went, i'll wait for G80.
Bearing in mind that I don't even OWN a PCI-express graphics card and that my current one is on loan, it's a good choice for me to go for the g80.

It should beat the hell out of the 7900gtx and hopefully gx2 (Cmon reviews)

So yeah, no gfx card and waiting for the best thing coming, then you get people who say wait for R600 and it's like..wait more months? No thanks.
Then there will be people saying to wait for the best thing after R600.

I've waited 4months to upgrade my graphics card, almost 4 years if you count the fact I don't have one and used a 5900 before that.

5900Ultra to 8800GTX? Helluva upgrade ;)
Im glad that almost 4 years ago I got the best that was out and waited, it saved me money with all the upgrades and stuff, hopefully this system will last me a while too.
