I got my card last Saturday, REALLY happy with it and a big improvement over my x850 xt pe. Gained about 35% over my old card using 3d mark 03 numbers. I have a 480 W akasa psu. the card shuts down to low clock speeds and tells me i dont have enough power to safely operate my card when playing games. This card must be power hungry!!!!!!!!!! On the same rail i have a sata drive and nothing else.I guess its time i got myself that modular psu i have my eyes on. :D  (and that ram i guess)

I recomend this card, oblivian just looks awesome!!!!!

Wow, are you sure you need a new PSU  , I`ve only got an Antec 380W truepower with mine, no probs at all :) .
I would go with SiD the Turtles` suggestion and try to give it two molexes on a line with nothing else attached

Unless of course that modular PSU was on your shopping list anyway ;)

I've put the card on one rail to test it out.My rails are 15a so not sure if thats the problem. The psu is on the list :p but maybe i should wait till i know i need it  Going to buy condemned and ill see if its okay dokay later.
Not sure if i can post this because ocuk does not sell it (although i would rather give them my money)

 OMG, what a monster :D ! !
looks good but seems to be overkill for this card, an old school Antec 380W truepower will be cheaper Lol :D

Yeah, since my Winpower messed up the motherboard in my computer, (PSU was rated at 450w) it could not at all power my Gainward. So I went and bought a Hiper Type-R 580W PSU, the PSU owns, since it already comes with a 6Pin PCI-E connector. So you don't need to use the one provided by Gainward. :D

My 400W is fine. No probs at all. Just buy a -now much cheaper than they were- 400W PSU... and you're sorted. Just make sure its got the 12v rail sorted too. :)
I would go for a `branded` make, in other words good, see web for reviews etc.
Most of what is sold on overclockers would fit the bill ~ go on, you know it makes sense :D

LOL, I was thinking of this very make when I said most of what is sold on overclockers would fit the bill ;)

Hehe we have to offer them for the cheap skates in the market, but we now only list the 650W version which is about on par with a decent 300W PSU so they tend to be OKish.

A truly good buy are the Sparkle 400W PSU's that OcUK sells for about £25 as those are a true 400W unit. :)

Sorry...meant to say is it worth an extra £70-£90 over the price of the bfg 7800 gs.....;)
All a bit subjective really, might be worth running 3D mark 05 then going to ORB where you can compare your CPU to the different model cards, what are you upgrading from ?
