Yet another vote for Witcher 3 here. Just a fantastic game that makes games like dragon age inquisition (which I also really liked) seem poor in comparison. No boring fetch quests to be had.

Honourable mention to rocket league for nailing a simple concept

The criticisms might be valid for some people, I don't have a problem with that, but the arguments...well there weren't any. Just some statements. I was interested to hear some specific detailed arguments.

It's called opinion.

Personally I enjoyed TW3, regardless of the clumsiness of the controls, but I can understand why some people might not have. It doesn't mean I'm right and they're wrong, just differing perceptions.

Obviously you're heavily invested in the game and the world surrounding it (based on your previous post about reading all the books etc.) but that doesn't mean you need to take it as a personal attack when someone doesn't have the same opinion of it as you.

It comes across as quite petulant and childish to pick on and patronise every post where someone says anything negative about it.

Its highly amusing that you have posted in this thread far more than anyone just to **** off a game off that you dislike. Is it that hard to accept that people like things you don't. Let it go.

People specifically asked why, I responded. Its not me continuing it.

You cant ask for opinions and then whinge when they are given. :D

Some good choices here and some that don't appeal to me at all but I don't get why people question others thoughts, as it is all personal taste and we don't all like the same things.
I truly believe if more emphasis was placed on teaching people that 'different opinions are ok' when they were younger, we'd be halfway to world peace. It's amazing how many people just *cannot* grasp the concept that somebody having a different opinion than them about something doesn't make the other person wrong.

Quoted for truth.

I honestly can't believe I'm saying this, but after playing more of it, Assassin's creed syndicate might now actually be my GOTY!

... I thought the last 3 games were pants!

Of course, opinions. They are like a-holes, everybody's got one. Cool.

But I was interested in why. I don't mind other people having other opinions than me about things - life would be unbearable if I did - but in this case, I was specifically interested in why they have this opinion/impression that is very different from mine. Instead of some illuminating elaboration that would get me to nod in agreement, I got..well, nothing.
And of course as I admitted, I love this whole franchise. But that does not mean I think it is faultless. Even the books have parts I could do without. The first game has half-terrible story that at times read like bad fan fiction. Second game had combat inconsistent with books, some technical issues, inverted difficulty curve..
I found some flaws with TW3 as well (namely unwieldy inventory for crafting, which really peed me off at times, or not ideally balanced levelling system). But yeah, with movement and combat, I had no issues.

Yeah, strip half the words away to trip and fit your narrative. /golfclap . :)

Did I miss some post of yours where you elaborated more ? Apologies if I did. I was paraphrasing this one:

Combat, fairly limited and didn't find it particularly engaging after a few hours(main area of interest in an RPG for me).
Magic system is a bit pants(another huge area of interest)
Majority of quests are just filler/unrewarding/terrible rewards/repetitive.
Endless pointless ? locations/really unrewarding exploration.
There are next to no dungeons, no epic places to explore/crawl through.
Loot is terrible once you get witcher items, everything is just junk, no excitement getting loot/opening that chest.
Crafting system pretty bad, though they did address some issues.
Far far far too much dialogue.
Movement really clunky.

Now, if you consider this an interesting, elaborate critique, then, well, you are sure entitled to that opinion!
