Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon

Another solid episode, maybe moving a little to fast compared to early GoT that I really enjoyed.

The quick movement of people from king landing to dragonstone both to get the egg and then the meeting at the end is a little jarring, makes the world its based in feel small compared to how vast it felt in early GoT. I'd prefer if we had another storyline or two building up and that end meeting happened next episode or even the one after.

Oh god, no more spending 5 episodes, with camping by fire chitchatting please. I hated that part with GOT. People complain about the last season being rushed…imagine had they use the time more wisely.

I think it is a good enough continuation of some of the episodes from GOT. I think some of the characters story lines are going to be quite good. That hand is a bit of an arse though.

Would say that Dragonstone and Kings Landing are, by GoT standards, relatively close to each-other.

Dragonstone is situated on an island just out of Blackwater Bay from Kings landing which looks like a fraction (maybe 1/20th) of the distance from Kings Landing to Winterfell.

This map is pretty helpful and can also show up some inconsistences in the traveling times between places.

I am enjoying it - good story and looks great of course.

I can fully understand however why many people think its boring with too much talking in darkened rooms and not enough action.

Many people seem unable to even remember the earlier series of GOT - just the stuff with big battles and 75 plot points per episode.
the first few episodes of GOT introduced you to tons of characters and made the world seem huge and alive.

this is like 10 people or something... focused on about 4 of them for 2 whole episodes

The dark rooms bit, do people not have their displays set right or something? Nothing appeared too dark for me, same as GoT really.

Oh come on.

On broadcast TV the bit rates werent good enough and even on OLED TVs it looked too dark.

It wasn't until the 4k HDR Blu-ray's appeared that you could appreciate some scenes and sequences

I definitely found watching during the day quite hard as the living room gets lots of natural light even with curtains drawn. Drawback of an oled from a few years ago. Doesn't overly matter as just wait till evening where it looks great.
