Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon

Interesting reading the reactions to the first few episodes of Game of Thrones Season 1 on here: https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/t...-game-of-thrones-read-warning.18039041/page-9

Bit concerning that this guy fancied Sophie Turner, who was 14 when she started filming Season 1 in June 2010

I quite like it. It lacks the humour of Game of Thrones though. I mean, there is no comic relief or amusing bits. It is all a very dark and serious. There aren't any really likable characters yet.

The main girls face really annoys me as well :p.

Rhys Ifans is very good and well cast.

We need a short person to make wise cracks at them.

It's no contest between House of Dragons and that arse-gravy amazon have come up with. The creatives behind that show could only dream of reaching this level of basic competence.

For a second I thought that was a The Witcher crossover LOL.

I hope Amazon have a strong 3rd episode... coz House of the Dragon episode 3 just took a huge dump over the Rings of Power so far.

I haven't watched it yet as I was too tired to give it my full attention, I will watch tonight though. To be honest, from what we have seen so far from both shows, HOD only needs to hit basic 6/10 competence to dump on ROP.

People who mentioned not enough action will be satisfied by this weeks episode.

The face of a man who would rather die than take the help from his brother after 3 years

The difference in the hunts between the King having it all done for him and messing up the kill compared to Rhaenar coming back blooded after her own kill, putting the point across again about the differences between them

Props to Rhys Ivan he's making Littlefinger look hell of lot less slimy than he was in GOT

Blink and you miss it moment, the King's fingers are getting worse and worse

Things are definitely gathering pace now.
Can't help that Viserys has set up the Kingdom for disaster with that promise to his daughter, Damon is barking. Great scene. Who was that second Dragon rider though? Have we met him before?

I thought they did a good job of making the younger characters look a little older with the time jump, and Rhaenar does a great job of coming across as a obnoxious teenager without being really irritating to the viewer.

A poster above commented about the lack of humour in this compared to Game of Thrones, and I think that's bang on. As we go further into the series, the absence of that clever wit is more keenly felt.

john snow had less plot armour

Less plot armour than heroic capabilities, I think. Where in GoT did we see a heroic warrior cut their way through a cast of mooks in that way? GoT, dragons aside, always felt more grounded in its action. Winning against that kind of odds is a much more exaggerated level of ability. I don't mind the arrows missing; that's probably closer to reality than most depictions of bows in fantasy: even with a gun it's hard to hit a running target, bows are far less precise. I do wish armour worked better though. It takes a very lucky or good shot to penetrate plate.
