Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon

Can understand for a new series starting out slow, hopefully later one we can see some more action scenes, guess if it is received well it could go on for 3 or 4 seasons.

It looks like it is at least being comptently handled, so there's hope they can rescue ASOIAF for TV for sure. After the S8 disaster I had little hope for this, but it's been good.

Didnt realise that the characters would.be changing to depict the change in years
Hopefully the new people are as good as thr current crop
I mean damon is just awesome, want more of the seasnake though

They've got some difficult acting to follow, especially Milly Alcock has been fantastic.

Not gonna lie, I don’t think a lot of the GoT actors are “great actors” I think they were just perfectly cast for their roles. Many of them that have had different roles have been massively average.

Mily was casted after they found and casted Emma, if Mily has been this good to match Emma it should be good when we get the full time skip.

I did not expect Otto to be stripped of his title so quickly (with the time jumps I guess it makes sense with the amount of time that has past)

Yeah, I'm a little bit surprised with how much time skipping has happened, but I get that they're working towards what's been written which is good, as that's where GoT fell apart when they didn't have the story.

I need to rewatch that again but can someone remind me why
he was stripped of the title?
I forgot already what he had done lol

His daughter told him he had to do his Kingly duty before she would 'take one for the crown' and marry, Otto was basically the OG Littlefinger and schemed his way into power and then forced his daughter to 'aid' the King after his wife passed and is actively trying to get Aegon on the Throne for his own needs / power.

Awkward raunch in ep. 4! Also some decent relationship building episode too.

I think this 'human' side of characters (lust, jealousy, restraint, ulterior motives beyond "herp-derp I'm evil") makes this a much more compelling watch than the Rings of Power.

One show has good writing and talented showrunners etc, the other one doesn't. It also helps when you have people who can act. RoP is helmed by two interns without a single noteworthy credit on their resumes.

I wouldn’t go that far.

Rings of Power is designed for family viewing. I was referencing that it’s devoid of the compelling tension that arises from adult themes, the sort of things that I find dramatic and appealing.

Nothing has leapt out at me to suggest that Rings of Power is being made by ‘untalented persons’, even if I do think the themes, writing, acting etc in House of Dragons is better.

I can’t stomach many TV shows, ‘carrot-dangling storytelling’ is not my jam, but I’ve enjoyed both in their own ways.

But I will say that ending an episode on “oooo who is this out of focus person? *cut to credits*” is the insanely annoying sort of ‘carrot dangling’ that puts me off all TV shows… and this is what Rings of Power did on the most recent episode. Less of that, please :)

I'll have to disagree with you on RoP, as there's no tension of any kind present. But each to their own.

:)
