Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon

Yep, it was a very poor decision.

I could understand if it went for the character being like 12 to 50 maybe, but an actor that is 22, changing to an actor that is 30 is stupid.

Ser Laenor's new actor barely looked any older than the last one!

As you say, no attempt has been made age Daemon or Christen so the whole thing just looks weird on screen.

This isnt going to be the only time jump AFAIK and the current character was cast first and clearly she couldnt pull off a 15 year girl look but could be made to age to 50.

When is the next time jump? It's the kind of thing that would have worked better if they changed actors at the start of a new season. New season starts with the however many years later and I doubt many people would be so against the actor change, 6 episodes in it just feels like some new character has rolled up, especially with how the Queen and Rhaenyra have sort of swapped personalities, which I know is part of the story, but when its dropped on you so fast it feels odd.

I spent 20 minutes of that episode wondering if it was going to be a dream sequence. What a bizarre choice to change some of the lead actors.

Same for me, I actually went and double-checked on my Sky box twice to make sure I hadn't missed an episode or maybe the misses had watched one without me knowing . Odd decision to change some but not all characters, with some looking exactly the same as they did in ep5.

I really liked the first 5 episodes, but I found myself just drifting off with ep6. I'll have to try and rewatch it before ep7.

Ep6 is such a hard watch. For me, it's ended my interest in HotD.

I don't like the direction so won't waste the time.

I think it was a bit of a come down from episode 5, as it was all ramping up… then back to ‘setting the scene’ with episode 6.

I’m taking it as just that - setting the scene in the new timeline. I imagine it will ramp up again once we’ve spent more time in this new setting.

That sudden 10 year jump with 90% of the main characters changed, and all the new ones added in completely threw me off! It was also VERY boring! Fantasy East Enders

So I'm only in S01E04 and I have to say I'm not excited.

I don't want to read the thread for spoilers. But this show does not need "fantasy" at all. It isn't fantasy.

Its basically (so far) any old story of power plays, lines of ascension, love triangles.

Its a drama.

I don't like, hate or feel anything for any of the characters. The episodes seem slow, not much happening, they don't really go anywhere.

They throw in a dragon every now and again.

Not a fan of time jumps either. Never liked that in TV shows. Every episode I have to work out if there has/hasnt been one

But yeah, so far, 4/10.

I'll give it a bit longer. But not impressed

Good point made above. Other than the occasional dragon appearance there is nothing "fantasy ".

Fighting for the crown, scheming, backstabbing = tension, exciting
Family in fighting with slaps and bickering = snooze fest

It is quickly turning to the latter.

What absolute bell end in charge filmed that fake night time Beach scene etc. Even on my oled I couldn't tell what the hell was going on.

Daemon leaning in the background thinking to himself 'it's been 10 years and you lot still haven't got your **** together'

Thought the most recent episode (today’s!) was brilliant - ramp up as expected, battle lines drawn and a super ‘flight’ scene that really gave a sense of scale.

Only struck me in e04 but now I can't get past it.

Its just another period drama. With the odd dragon.

No real interest in watching more. Will probably leave it until I've watched everything else I want to see.
