US: Game of Thrones Season 3 (contains spoilers)

We've already talked about this a few pages back. One theory is that its Ramsay Bolton - Lord Roose Bolton's son.

Lord Bolton is one of Stark's bannermen and was tasked with finding out what he did with the stark boys. However he appears to be enjoying it rather too much ...

The torture scene was pointless apart from some nudity to gratify the male audience it did not move the story for that character forward anymore than it was last week. We already hate the other guy so that was 10 min of on screen time wasted. Oh we find out it was implied that his willy has been cut or mutilated but do we need 10 mins to get to that point ? There are only 10 episode a season !

The John Snow story...yes they love each other but another 10-15 mins wasted, i mean they hunt and walked around the woods some more and she mistaken a windmill for a palace. They could have fitted that easily between dialogue and not made a big deal of it.

The kid with no legs, didn't get anywhere further than it was 5 hours of television ago. I mean look how far they've come (absolutely no where) compare to the distance and development Jamie Lannister's character has gone. I mean his hand has been chopped off and practically healed!

Jamie Lannister is actually going back ! Hurray ! Some story development !

Dragon lady has a new goal in freeing the slaves ! Hurray ! A new plot !

Mixed bag of an episode, half of it was okay, the other half was a waste of time.

I see where you're coming from. The plot is still moving slowly.

They're doing a very slow buildup to a crescendo. I still enjoy it though :) I suspect this series may not be for you however as this is George Martins thing.

The books are even slower and the Bran arc is largely dull.

Why do you still watch if you hate it so much? Do you really have nothing better to do?

And if you didn't like this week's episode I wouldn't bother with anymore as GRRM wrote the script so any changes from the book or divergences from the book are his own choosing.

That isn't correct....
Martin is credited on the Game of Thrones TV series as a producer and consultant. He has written the scripts for the eighth episode of the first season, the ninth episode of the second season, seventh episode of the third season and the second episode of the fourth season. It is planned that he will write one episode per season of the show.

I love the books and want to enjoy the show, and I am for the most part but it is frustrating to see significant changes to the story for no real reason. Of course you expect changes from the book, the cast would be massive and it would be twice as long, but some of the changes are a bit strange. Almost as if the TV producers think they can make the story better.

I am hoping I am wrong and something will happen but as you guys have all confirmed, that

1 - the books are dull
2 - nothing happens until season 7
3 - it's not even finished even in the books

I am not going to waste anymore time on this, might watch a speed up condensed version on YouTube in 2025.

I guess the first season set the bar for its pace. Lots happened in season 1 and lots of unexpected turns.

Sean Bean got his head chopped off.
His family scattered.
The hand of the king changed a couple of times.
The dwarf had all the best lines
There was the zombies/monsters beyond the wall (where on earth have they gone?)
The dragon lady made great strides in her character development, her brother got killed, she became a kind of queen. got the eggs.

The season moved along at a nice pace, good character and story development, good twists, good dialogues and confrontations.

This season there has been a lot of sitting down and talking and not much else.

They either talk in chambers with a glass of wine - the king of the North and his people, the old lady with the stark girl, John Snow in huts, the kid with no legs in a camp fire, the fat kid in the snow. The grandad with his daughter and the dwarf or whoever he wants to control, the dwarf with that knight (of Robson and Gerome). They all mostly like to sit around and chat about what they are going to do

The dwarf now doesn't have any good lines, he doesn't seem like he can talk himself out of a parking ticket where before he could talk himself out of being executed.

The stark girl is still weak as ever, one would expect her to at least befriend the right people or make her own way out of there. She is both weak physically and weak minded. That isn't a character an audience would love or care to love. Personally I rather see her character getting killed off than waste any screen time. Every time she is on screen she moans about how she is unhappy, it is about time she get a grip and do something about it!

The only character who is actually doing something is Carlisse (can't spell), the blonde dragon girl, she is the only person holding my interest and actually actively pursuing her dreams to get on the throne in this Game of Thrones.

Only 3 episodes left of the season and it really doesn't feel like it's got going yet.

When you put it that way, yeah it's a little disappointing that nothing really groundbreaking has happened in the last few episodes. That's not to say I don't like it, I've thoroughly enjoyed every episode so far and the production/presentation is superb the seasons just need to be longer! Their budget for this must be HUGE so I'm surprised we haven't seen any battles Robb Stark has been involved with at least.
