There are still lots of room for improvement, although I am not sure whether it is better because they set it up using 7 hours of television, or whether it feels better because the previous 7 hours has been utter turd so any improvement, however marginal and now magnified because of the boredom one has to endure from the previous 7 hours.
It does feel like they are wasting a lot of tv time on scenes with almost no importance at times or making some scenes far to drawn out.

I get the impression rob stark has killed more of his own men than he has enemies this season, his war campaign was moving at serious pace last season and I don't think he had a single battle this season? just falling outs with his own people and ridiculous decisions trying to be a man of honour and integrity that I doubt Ned would even have made.....

Breaks marriage agreement and wrongs the frays? like honour and your word means nothing.
Kills one of his most loyal banner man? clan leader of castarks or whoever he was as if letting him live would stain his reputation....

Makes no sense it's almost like he has multiple personality disorder one is his dad and the other is theon.......

Holy crap!

It all makes sense with the weird music during the end credits in previous episodes now, all so tonight's credits would have more of an impact.

Yup, it all goes catastrophically wrong for Rob, it's the way GRR wrote it. While it seems like he was VERY hard done by, it is also a sign that he IS just a boy and very inexperienced in the ways of war and diplomacy... he still had a hell of a lot to learn from his father before he was any way towards being a great leader.

At last, Rob Stark is dead along with that storyline.

Didn't see it coming but when it did, I was more glad than not because he was a TOTAL and UTTER waste of space and time on screen. What was the point of him at all this season but sit around drinking wine and playing war chess.

Although the fight to liberate the city was a bit meh, 30 seconds fight then surrounded by 30 men and we just meant to believe they got out without a wound?

But this episode at least moved things forward.

didn't he say the slaves army had surrendered ?

the breaker of chains was at the walls.
the slaves inside must have known or heard rumours or this woman and her army liberating slaves.

once the few core leaders of the army were dead the rest were just slaves who didn't want to fight anyway?

You mean all the heads of the army attacked them 3? and they took over the city with 3 men?

And all happened to be in that corner of the city at the same time?

That's not believable and if it is, tactically inept.

1stly it's fiction 2ndly the times it's based around are technically called the Dark Ages due to a lack of record keeping mostly due to a rather idiotic and god fearing population at the time hence tactical ineptness is a given!

No, I think we are meant to believe they fought on, and executed the plan. That second group of guards was a tougher fight than the first one, and on they continued to the gate, opening it for her army to sack (take) the city.

The slaves surrendered under the force of oppression, probably when they gates opened. But I think they still had to fight their way there and take it.

This entire season has been rather strange, mostly it's building a stage for the next season which is why it's particularly poor how Robb Stark is being shown, like you I feel like it's different from what I read and the lack of battles or even small skirmish combat related to Robb this season makes for rather odd viewing. I remember him winning, but making poor decisions on the spot in the heat of the moment, but the way he's portrayed now he's sitting about doing very little and simply acting like a plonker for the hell of it.

What a terrible way to kill Greywind, it was the most upsetting part, I hope no more Direwolves end up getting killed. :(

I wasn't that happy with the way Robb Stark was portrayed in the actual series, kind of disappointing, would have liked to of seen more battle with him in.

Probally my favorite seen with Robb Stark, and Theon, pity Theon went his own way. :(

You have to realise Robb is barely in the books. All the chapters are told from one characters point of view, but Robb is never one. He's treated as a minor character and we only hear about him through Catelyn really. When he dies it's a big shock, but in TV he's been made to be more important than he really is, the plot goes on...
