US: Game of Thrones Season 3 (contains spoilers)

Unreal episode, the best the show has had thus far. I knew what was coming but it was still jaw dropping to watch.

I can see how some people might not like it, as most casual watchers would have been routing for Robb to act revenge on the Lannisters for the execution of his father. But in my opinion, it was just more realistic this way - Robb had made too many mistakes due to his inexperience.

My only concern is how next week's finale follows that. It would have been fitting with the silent credits etc. for that to be the end of the season imo.

You have to realise Robb is barely in the books. All the chapters are told from one characters point of view, but Robb is never one. He's treated as a minor character and we only hear about him through Catelyn really. When he dies it's a big shock, but in TV he's been made to be more important than he really is, the plot goes on...

Then I was correct that they gave him far too much screen time this season?

On one hand I do understand why, if they didn't then the death wouldn't be as much as a shock. More screen time means the audience thinks he is important so unlikely to get killed but we know that on this show means nothing, his dad was the testament to that.

No, as with all characters, he didn't get enough screen time, and the screen time he did get was misused. Too much sitting around going over the same things, not enough showing what a great tactician he was. The whole series was building up to the Red Wedding, and Robb's series was pretty much wasted tbh.

I understand what you mean Morfik, but saying that Robb is a minor character isn't true!.. He is the main character in that arc, even though we don't get a POV.

I knew exactly what was coming but it was still great to watch, the direwolf scene not so much :(

Have I missed why Roose sided with the Lannisters/Freys?

"After learning that the Greyjoys had taken much of the North and of the Lannister-Tyrell victory at the Battle of the Blackwater, Lord Bolton concludes that King Robb's cause is lost."

Wow, that episode was unbelievable! I'm a little disappointed in the way things turned out though. As someone said on another forum, you need a 'good' character or two to root for, the show is pointless otherwise. I just feel like they're killing off too many of the good or likeable characters, while the Lannisters have gone almost completely unscathed thus far. Hopefully that will change in the next series!

Someone else in this thread mentioned Lady Stoneheart, and I had to read up on her! OMG I hope they show how that came about in the next episode!!

wow! hopefully the next season the starks start to get some payback.

I haven't read the books but I guess Arya, thinking all her family are now dead, seeks out that assassin guy, gets trained, kicks ass.

Getting back to her family was the only reason she didn't go with that J'Qar (sp?) guy before. Now there is nothing to stop her leaving.

That's what I think anyway.

Lots of speculation on fan sites(not serious tbh) that he would play him:p

I would have liked Richard Griffiths, I think he would have been perfect, but sadly he died recently:(.

Has to be Ian McNeice now imo.

I had the same thought about Mr Griffiths, he would indeed have been perfect for the role. :(

Brian Blessed would be a laugh though. :D
