Games you're playing, and games...

Playing Halo 5, it’s OK as a shooter and I’ll finish it, but it isn’t a patch on previous iterations. The story is all over the place.

Going to focus on WD Legion next.

Mass Effect Andromoda at the moment. I'm quite enjoying it!

It was OK, I never finished it. Not a touch 1-3, but once it was patched andromeda became decent enough. I just can’t face starting it again on Xbox - I assume saves don’t sync between pc and Xbox.

Finished Spidey MM and Demon's Souls, now working through Immortals FR at the moment, so good, it's like a 7/10 Breath of the Wild which makes it fantastic.

Looking forward to Bravely 2 (Switch), Destruction Allstars (PS5), and Ratchet (PS5) next!

What do you think BOTW did better? It's the reverse for me.

There's something about BotW that is just magical.

The music, ambiance, art direction, size and scope of the game, the shrines.

It's comfort food for me now, if I'm having a crappy day, I'll put on BotW and collect from Korok seeds for half an hour or an hour, and just get totally lost in that world.

Thanks :) I really think I'd have enjoyed it more if it had the colour of FR and the frame rate. I played it on pc with a filter and it was like instantly more enjoyable but didn't feel right so I stopped.
It wasn't the worst game I've played but it had a lot of familiar 'weaknesses' of open world games that non Nintendo games would get picked up for.
My wish would be for an updated switch that can run at 60 and colour filter choice but I doubt either of those will ever happen.

Without doubt BotW gets a pass on many of the shortcomings another developer would've been called up on. There's no such thing as a perfect game, after all - despite 10/10 review scores (which I can paradoxically agree with, not just on BotW).

Yeah, doesn't feel very Nintendo'y to go for the framerates, I don't know how easy that would be if they brought out a Switch Pro, or whether it's a Bloodborne situation where it's a capped 30fps forever unless it gets a remaster. Weirdly, I wasn't that sensitive to the framerate of BotW, but massively appreciate it in IFR.

The storytelling in IFR is fun but a little cringey in a way, I love the whole "here's your sandbox, bye" approach to BotW; IFR seems to hold your hand a little bit more. And also, I'm not that big a fan of Greek mythology as I am the lore of the Zelda universe.

And the paraglider is better than the wings so far, but I'm only five hours into IFR, and 200 hours into BotW, so we'll see. I downloaded IFR as it was £30 and fancied playing it the weekend rather than waiting, this goes in my favour as I tend to play games through quickly to sell them on more max used value; feel like I've beat myself at my own game now as I can now take my time with the experience, I tend to ruin it for myself by thinking, okay, I need to speed run this game to sell it on again.

With all that said and done, IFR is so much fun, can't wait to dive back into it after work.

Well I am burnt out with Valhalla. I got to the the last battle and I am 95 power levels lower than I need to be and I am getting wrecked lol - the game has been pretty good at keeping me at the right level but this is too much to pull back. I've installed Immortals I am going to give that a go tonight.

Not played Valhalla as got burnt out with AC games many moons ago (Syndicate), but I can thoroughly recommend IFR.

Enjoy.

Played it for a couple of hours. Yeah, I really like it. Borrows from BoTW and the recent AC games but that's no bad thing. Looking forward to getting deeper into it.

You should play 1-3 and don’t bother with Andromeda.

It really isn't that bad.

I played a bit a couple years back but got distracted.

Restarted few days ago (other half started for first time), and while it isn't as good as the first 3, it isn't terrible.

Could have made for a decent introduction to a new trilogy, had it not been received so badly - which they could have helped delaying 6 months.

Sure,, some dialog off, some animation off, but have seen worse.

Instead, now they releasing a new one back in our galaxy, and I'm more worried about that doing something like Basing it on shphard again.

It is so good, the story is pretty decent but the gameplay is so much fun - I love the puzzles in this game, when you complete one it feels good :D

I am just mopping up side quests and heroic tasks

Not sure what to play next...

Fractured Minds

Really short game about anxiety and mental health. Had it installed already as it's one I fancied trying. But turns out it's also the easiest 1000G on Game Pass. Handy for the current Rewards giveaway.

Next up, The Gardens Between. Same reason.

Thanks, I was wondering what I should play to earn some more points.

And that's The Gardens Between done. Decent little puzzle game, though quite short. Full 1000G in that one too.

What Remains of Edith Finch next.

@ic1male True Achievements has a list here. Tell Me Why and Deliver Us The Moon are supposed to be easy points too.

Funnily enough that was my main gripe with GP. I found I played games I normally wouldn't just because of points and it just felt like a job. Where as now I just play what I want and enjoy it. GP just doesn't do it for me and the games I choose to play aren't on there.

That's one aspect I'm loving. I've only had this Xbox S for 3 weeks and I've already got £20 in rewards towards Series X.

Can I transfer you the points I earned? Never going to use them. Think I had enough for $10 but not sure if it auto applies balance

I’ve never understood achievements, they don’t even signify achieving anything in 99% of games and no one cares about other people’s scores.

I don’t even know how many digits mine is, and gaming is all the better for it as I never play what I don’t enjoy just for a bit of a dopamine hit at the end.

Game pass however is excellent. There are so many great coop games on there that I’ve played with my wife locally or online with friends, and there are loads of games and genres that I would never have paid for or tried without it.

There are no rewards in the country I live in so there really are only negative points for me with achievements/gamer score. Even if there was, I’d rather work an extra 5 minutes rather than spending many hours doing something I don’t enjoy for the same financial result.
