An absolute model professional, I'm stunned by this news.
I'm a Sunderland fan and when he played for Newcastle he always stood out as a top guy who I respected massively.
Truly saddened by the news, RIP.

Honestly, you hear about so many deaths and it doesn't even register with me, Winehouse, expected it but Gary Speed, and suicide, I opened footie 365 , read the headline and thought, wtf. it didn't compute for a few seconds, genuinely shocked.

I don't think I've ever heard anyone hint at trouble for him before so he's kept any severe depression very well hidden for a seemingly long time as suicide for depression is normally both very severe and normally very long term.

I don't normally feel sad when I hear about these things but he seemed a genuinely nice guy and I really feel quite, horrible hearing about it.

It crossed my mind that, maybe he's received some awful news recently, debilitating sickness, something you'd consider ending it before it starts kind of thing.
