Gary Speed Dead

That is the nature of depression unfortunately.

Very much so.

Having first hand experience of someone close committing suicide, it's something that people react very differently to as well so I can see there being quite a bit of anger around his death unfortunately as well as sadness.

That is the nature of depression unfortunately.

Given how many people have said they didn't see this coming and how happy he appeared, even yesterday on Football Focus, there has to be more to this unfortunately :(

Ish, its fairly rare for a depressed person to be THAT bad and spend the day before he seemingly was probably planning to do it, at work. IT does already seem like there could be more too it.

I think its quite common for family/friends of suicide victims to after it happens interpret strange behaviour in the days leading up to it as essentially saying goodbye.

You would think for it to be bad enough to kill himself this morning he'd have been on the end of several days if not weeks or month of a severe depression, locking himself away, not appearing happy on TV and with people all day.

Well I guess I hope that as its just worrying someone could choose to end it all so suddenly, that thought scares me frankly, the thought of something else happening, influencing it seems less, disturbing I guess.

People can be one thing on the surface and something totally different under it.

There isn't always signs or massive change in behaviour, people deal with it in different ways and fronts are put up to make it seem as if nothings wrong.

Based on the above post you evidently know nothing about the subject at hand so please don't embarrass yourself by posting any more about it.

Newcastle fan here. I'm in disbelief about his death so very sad :( My thoughts are with his family.

shocked! just heard about this, so sad to hear :(

He was on football focus just yesterday talking about the Man Utd - Newcastle game :(

Very shocked to hear about Gary Speed.

He may of made the mistake of playing for the wrong side in Sheffield, but Speed himself was a consummate professional, on and off the pitch.

I hope this goes some way to helping with the awareness of depression within football, and that footballers are just as human as everyone else.

RIP Gary Speed.

I'm watching it currently, but missed the opening 5 minutes. Swansea aren't playing badly, passing it around well but just lack a final ball.

Young Welsh lad Ashley Richards just came on.

What was the atmosphere at the Swansea game like? anyone watching....

Shocked and saddened :(

Met Gary a couple of times in Jesmond and he was a great bloke.

Real shame, RIP Gary you'll be remembered as a Newcastle and PL great.

Very sad news indeed. I wonder what was going through his head. Condolences to his family, friends and the Welsh team!
