Gauntlet 2009 Joiners Thread!

I havn't been getting any work to get credits :( :p Althought I seem to have 309.64 worth of work

Looking at your account data shows you currently have 310 cobblestones (a cobblestone is the unit of credit used by BOINC projects), with all WUs being received and successfully sent back to Berkeley on the 6th (yesterday). So you do have credit but no more work to do at the minute which, I presume, is an issue at Berkeley's side.

Is astroPulse inc? and if so does it or seti give better ppd?
If not is the Win32 Lunatics' Unified Installer v0.2 what I need?
E6550 so only SSE3

Edit: looks like just Astro and multibeam...
Edit2: Doh - bonic, then seti, then lunatics, then no work :D

Outside of lots of little network/system hiccups which have been addressed in our usual whac-a-mole manner, there has been continuing data pipeline issues. The data recorder at Arecibo has been crashing, seemingly randomly. This wouldn't be a big deal but it requires human intervention to reboot, so when it locks up at night, we can miss hours of data. Meanwhile, our reserves are pretty much running dry. We do expect a shipment of at least 4 full data drives by early next week. We may run out of data of the weekend, but that's okay. And yes we are aware of splitters stuck on certain files.

We’re out of Multibeam (SETI@Home) data right now, so only people who are running Astropulse are getting work. But we’re going to be getting a box of data tomorrow or the next day, so we’re fine on that front. Saved by the Box, again.

Could be a bit futile without any data to crunch.

I currently have 4 astropulse units going but I have no reserve at all and GPU is sitting idle though I have had 1 multibeam unit.

Gonna be a slow start.

yeah but isn't tuesday the day they take everything offline to do the database squeeze followed by a day of everyone trying to get work so lots of connection problems, hopefully things back to normal by thursday would be my optimistic guess.

The Gauntlet doesn't start until the 25th of September.
That gives Berkeley a solid two and a halve weeks to sort things out.
We're not considering postponing just yet.

And after all, there is a bit of relevance to the starting date of the Gauntlet.
It's not called the S@NL 10th anniversary Gauntlet for nothing, you know ;)

Happy, don't worry. I'll keep trying to add you to the team. Maybe you're in the download of this night. We'll see. As soon as you're in our database, you'll be added and able to burn some CPU's for the Gangsters :D

I seem to have loads of WU's, both CPU and GPU, but they estimate from between 29minutes to a couple of hours so it's not that much in total.

Still at least nothings idle for the moment :)

do the cuda wu need a push to get them started?
showing 0% and no load on my gpu as yet?
two wu on the cpu currently, running fine

Edit: ok went for lunch and cuda and both cpu started working.
get back and cuda stops - does it only work when pc is idle?

In the seti Computing preferences there are 2 preferences:

Suspend work while computer is in use?
Suspend GPU work while computer is in use?
Enforced by version 6.7+

I think you would need to set those to no. I seem to have the opposite problem, I've set the SETI@home preferences - Use Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) if available - to no yesterday, but it keeps on starting tasks on the GPU. I wanted to do a bit of folding on the GPUs before the comp. How long before these preferences update?
