Gauntlet 2009 Joiners Thread!

By default it would seem it will only do GPU processing after the computer has been inactive for 3 minutes.

Boinc > Advanced > Preferences >
Use GPU Whilst Computer is in use

There does not appear to be a way to set this in the overall preferences on the website you can only lower the idle time to 1 minute minimum.

Nah if you have that ticked it disables the "only after computer has been idle for .."

For my machines it kicks of the GPU and CPU tasks immediately with the "While computer is in use" and "Use GPU while computer is in use"

I seem to have stockpiled a huge amount of CPU and Cuda WUs now, so hopefully I shouldn't run fry for a while (I think I set 5 days of extra work :p)

Once you get running dont forget to stop Boinc and run the lunatics optimised app installer.

No, you can tell if you are running the optimized apps in task manager it will show different tasks than the standard client.

I was using the BOINC settings which are obviously only local, and I prefer to use the remote settings, incase I am able to add another machine, but couldnt find the same setting on the seti computing preferences page but I see it now;

"Suspend GPU work while computer is in use?"

All sorted though now, have set 5 days of work as same as Happy.

Thanks, just checked and my CPU and GPU processes are identical to your, so all is good :)

Well I've finished all my R@H units on my main PC (940 BE and GTX 280) and damn it goes through these fast. Pretty much every GPU unit I've done has been a 1:1 ratio of seconds to credit :o Is that right?

X4 810 is next on the list to finish and my Q9450 last.

Oh and as a side question, when I installed the optimised client, under the multibeam section, is the generic X64 client faster than the X86 SSE3 client for an AMD?
