Gauntlet 2009 Joiners Thread!

Its quite tense isn't it? :)

Looking at these pre-gauntlet stats we are currently 4th in RAC, but I've got a funny feeling that there is a lot going on behind the scenes. I know production ramped up hugely for some teams during the last gauntlet.

Remember that we can't add any new people once the gauntlet starts but if you are already in the gauntlet team you can add new "machines" to your account to add an element of surprise to the results.

unless you can add like 50 machines or so though, it'll be better to ramp up first to make sure you have full rolling capacity, rather than being about two weeks behind in production no?
edit: oh, but then if we all like just put in one machine (maybe one core on one machine), then they'll be less likely to split the team up .... hmmm....

Of course in an open forum like this we can discuss many things.

But theoretically, I would think any machines one wanted to bring on on between now and the start of the gauntlet should, probably, start making a difference around the time the gauntlet starts, maybe.

But its all pure speculation, anything could happen, and often does.

/me wonders if he can run Seti on his n97 :)

are the ATI cards any good at seti as i've a 3870 on route
And can some one point me (or tell me) what the best setup.
In Folding it's all about the shaders - is seti the same or is memory/core speed more important.

Still having problems with SETI and dishing out workunits. Keeps failing communication with the project so I can't get new GPU units.

My problem seems to be with uploads over the last few days, have a reasonable cache to keep everything going but the results are stacking up and taking their time to get back to Seti.

Also the normal Tuesday outage will happen this evening until approx 23.00Hrs.

Cheers, Simon,
