Gay Pride

Has it ended? We are told it hasn't so are these celebrations immature?

I dont think they celebrated the end of ww2 until it was over, at least in Europe VE day for instance.

Is there still discrimination or has it now concluded?

Ending, as in, it’s still in progress, but we have come a long long way, and that’s to be celebrated.

I don’t know why you are comparing it to ww2. Doesn’t really fit as an analogy, one being an armed conflict, the other being a societal shift in attitude. Bit of a strange thing to try and shoe horn in?

Who cares ? If you want to be gay, be gay, you don't need a parade to be gay and celebrate it, it's not an achievement it's a ******* lifestyle choice, it makes as much sense as having a parade for Pizza lovers who want to celebrate their love of Pizza (this wouldn't be a terrible idea though because who doesn't love Pizza ?)

Just the first big event that came to mind that was on a global scale.

Let's use the Olympics then I don't think the athletes celebrate until they have won right?

Pizza Parade sounds great. Shall we start a movement?

I love these threads, it’s great to be able to add names to the gammon database.

It’s not a lifestyle choice though. That’s pretty much why we need Pride. People who are gay don’t choose to be gay. They are. And unfortunately there is still a lot of stigma around that. Thats why we need Pride to show people that differences shouldn’t be scary and should be tolerated.

I find it strange that one of the people I follow on twitter felt the need to tell me and her other followers that shes a "pansexual mom, wife, and streamer". Why do I want to know what her sexual preferences are?

I think for some people, and companies, its becoming the politically correct thing to say.

The problem with Pride is its not just about being gay these days. It's being grouped in with people that are harming the original message of gay Pride.

The biggest discrimination stereotype against gay people was that they were deviants. So how is having guys (its mostly guys) crawling around on all fours with a gimp mask and nipple clamps on helping?

My cousin is gay. Neither him, his partner, nor any of their friends go to Pride because its being taken over.

It would be good to have a gay Pride event that remembered the serious message of why it was started in the first place.

I invite you to make your point, although i suspect you won't because even after having it spelled out to you what someone actually cares about it's still not sunken in.

What is it that i, supposedly, care about in you opinion?

I didn't say you cared about anything. Your reading comprehension really is poor.

Then i am not explaining myself. You cannot be proud of what you are, i am not gay, so i cannot relate, i am not black or whatever, all of those things only cause more division.

Be proud about something you did, not what you are, then everyone can relate and take part, then you are no longer gay, or black, you are just another person.

People call me a psychopath but nobody can work out this simple thing it seems.

It's not about being proud of what they are, its about the fact that they can be open about it. Safely.
Something you couldn't do historically here and still can't do in large parts of the world.

So when i said "i couldn't care less but it's fun to see how much it triggers some people." and you said "You think that companies being disingenuous about their support of minorities is great? That's a bit sick." you were in fact not disagreeing with my statement that i didn't care?

That when i said...
You were in fact projecting your feelings onto someone else. That because what a company chooses to do upset you so much you thought that other people cared enough, even after being told they didn't, that they to would be bothered enough to make a judgment on whether is was genuine or not.

Like i told you, i couldn't care less. That means what a company chooses to do with, is it their logo or something, doesn't bother me, i don't have feelings one way or another, i think they're free to do whatever they like.
And you replied by saying that you couldn't make sense of what someone posted you were in fact not disagreeing? That you truly couldn't make sense of the English language.

That in actual fact you agree with me when i say i couldn't care less? Because if so this exchange seems rather pointless as all you seem to be doing is raging against someone you agree with.

Is there maybe some kind of free online comprehension test you can all do to decide who is best at comprehension and be done with it? :p
