It's a silver plated Martin Handcraft Committee, made in late 1940 and originally owned by the US military. I don't know how, why or when it came over to the UK or ended up in private hands but I do know the previous 2 owners, so I'm looking to find out some more of its history.

Looks lovely :)

That actually answers a question I was going to put in your other thread.

As it happens, I play alto in the band currently. The trombone player is leaving though, and I'm switching to Baritone.

It's actually a bit of an ugly beast!

You can see some of the grime in amongst the keywork at the top - I doubt the silver has been polished in all 69 years up there! At some point, someone's added a DIY "top F" key lever that's standard on saxophones now, but wasn't back in the 30s and 40s.

It's obviously been used and abused - the silver has worn through to bare brass in places, and there's obvious dent repair on the bottom bow, but hey, I've bought it to play rock'n'roll gigs with, so I don't want something new and shiny.

Besides - I actually like the history behind it, and the associated wear on the instrument. It tells a story.

Is that the Gibson USA Black Beauty or the Custom Shop version. BTW Is it just me or are the bloomin LP customs about twice as heavy as any other guitar!! Best playing guitars ever though the LP customs. Although IMO the standards are more practical and look nicer.

Heres the new guitar very nice. :D

If you're talking about the Black LP on the right hand side then i think its a Burny, i can recall Jimbo talking about it a while ago.

Ahh okay...

Boo!!:p

I guess what I said a about the weight doesn't apply then... Mind you that said I had a PRS copy that weighed almost as much as most les Paul !!

Yep its a Burny custom, and it does way a ton.. very heavy as its unchambered or weight relived. Superb guitar though.

Left to right...

Tanglewood TRDCE rosewood reserve semi acoustic ( sounds amazing)

Gibson standard faded 07.. moded with RS guitar works pots n caps and nob pointers, and cover on neck pickup.

Gibson classic antique ( this is going to sound amzing with RS guitarworks Bumble bees and CTS pots in)

Burny late 80's black beauty custom

Fender American standard strat 08.. v nice.. but it will get RS sometime lol.

Hi guys, can anyone recommend a fairly cheap lightweight bass? Getting back into playing, but wrecked my shoulder snowboarding at the beginning of the year and the weight of the old bass I've got to use until I buy myself a one is hurting after an hour or so of playing. Fairly set on getting a Thunderbird as a decent bass, so just wanting a cheap lightweight practice bass.

Thanks

Another Martin for the collection.

Martin 1989 D16-M

Not to be confused with current D16 line. This is standard Martin build.Forward shifted scalloped Bracing.Dovetail neck joint. Not available to the public and made in limited numbers.Extremely light build.

Basically a D18-V in disguise :D

Here's my E-Drum setup! I got into drumming at school but never had a kit (nowhere to practice) until my mid 20's and then after moving I had to give it up again. However by now some E-Drums had become affordable enough and good enough that I decided to give these ago. These are TD12 Brain with Jobeky drums with Roland and Kit-toys cymbals all on Jobeky/Gibraltar hardware with Tama Iron Cobra Double Bass Pedals.

PS The tea-towels keep the stick noise down of the carbon fibre cymbals :D
