Gears Of War 4 (coming to Win 10 in Oct)

Multiplayer fun but basically a shotgun fest like all the previous games

That's the problem with the multi, its just shotgun spam and rolling around. It amazes me the multi in this game series had some sort of popularity, i'd say battlefront has more depth than it. Yes it runs well, looks good etc, but the multi is like something out of the dark ages. :(

Gah after waiting all weekend tried to launch it and same as you lot need an update which is stuck, just checked my games drive (2tb) and ive only got 80gb free, best start removing some old steam games I don't play....

Well my brother has this game now (I bought him a copy along with a shiny new GPU for his birthday)... idk if it's AMD cards or what, but trying to launch the game results in a black screen after the logo. Of course he has the latest drivers and whatnot. I've no idea whether this is a game issue or some issue with his computer (afterall, the GPU is newly installed). Halo 5 Forge was also working well yesterday for him, though today after trying to downgrade to 16.0 Catalyst drivers that no longer works either... it doesn't help that Windows 10 is slow as heck on his PC for some reason (could be due to it being installed on a HDD instead of SSD).

Even if it ain't me... doesn't bode well for the reception of this game if folks out there are having issues with it.

Fwiw, the first launch resulted in a black screen for a minute or three before it got to the main menu. It launched fine after that.
Nvidia user here.

That's when it actually worked anyway :D

The black screen lasts between 45 secs to 60secs on my sad then game loads.

Partly why it's popular it's very basic but does take skill to become pretty good at it.

Guardian, team death match are good fun. Hate capture the flag and arms race is ok.

Also try get a group for horde mode as that's good.

Well I am up to Act 2 now.... It’s a good story line thus far and asks a lot of questions.

The visuals are just WOW on 21:9

my god windows store is just pants, I'm guessing its just overloaded, but I was getting stuck on updating, tried wsreset again and now it just closes windows store when I try and update oh well that's me not playing tonight

Most others have had to move back to C to get game patched, did you have to do anything special to get it to patch ?

When i first downloaded the game i just told it to install to my games drive, that was really it. Besides needing to close the game to update it (as for some reason it stayed open) there's been no issues for my install.

Time to give up I think trying to get LGS to work with this. It doesn't work. :(

Hi there folks.
I've recently been using Windows 10 a lot more due to the recent release of Halo 5 Forge. Having a lovely G300S, I like to make use of the extra buttons on my mouse by making profiles for games via the Logitech Gaming Software. I've done so on Windows 7 with zero issues, if a game wasn't in the list, then I could easily link the executable to it.

However, with Windows 10 that's all changed. Like many games, Halo 5 Forge isn't on the existing list of profiles, no problem, Logitech lets us select the executable for that. The Halo 5 executable is stored within a locked/hidden folder in Program Files called Windows Apps. By default, as the administrator I didn't even have access to this folder, I had to go into security settings and fiddle about a bit, just to go inside the folder. The security pop-up doesn't allow access and neither does running the program as administrator.

Getting past the first, hurdle I then couldn't select the Halo 5 Forge executable from within the Logitech Gaming Software. It doesn't allow this, instead coming up with the message: "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file, you may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." and this is despite running LGS as an admin and overriding the ownership of the Windows Apps folder.

Going forward, this will be an issue with any UWP App and Logitech Gaming software, since we can't use it with these UWP apps due to the ridiculous security protocols. Unfortunatlye the game itself won't detect the additional mouse buttons either, so I can't direct rebind things in the game to the extra buttons.

I keep on finding things that put me off Windows 10, this incompatibility with LGS is just another one of them.
I'd appreciate any possible solutions, but having scoured the internet before posting this, there doesn't yet seem to be one.

I've not used it for years but if it's key mapping can't you just do it to a custom profile without linking to a .exe? Just map the keyboard press to the desired mouse button? Surely as far as the game is concerned you're just pressing a key on a keyboard.

Good fun tonight once we (well I) managed to get connected.

Windows 10, Terado and UPnP can do one!

edit - I sort of have myself to blame for the Teredo thing...

It seems win10.ipv6.microsoft.com, the Terado gateway MS use for XBL has found it's way on to several DNS black and blocklists to stop MS "spying" on people. By using PiHole for my DNS provision the machine was getting redirected to a dead drop for that resolution. Meaning Terado couldn't resolve it's endpoint.

Random, might help someone in a similar position at some point so thought it was worth mentioning!

Quit the game and launch it through the Xbox windows 8/10 app. Just had to reinstall windwows 10 due to an update issue and thats the path I just took. Worked perfect second time

Looks good @3440x1440 for me and runs very nicely maxed on a single 1080. Turned off motion blur and turned down DOF though as I hate both those settings. Im playing a game and I dont want it to blur when I turn or blur out half the scenery
