Gears Of War 4 (coming to Win 10 in Oct)

Ok game looks very pretty in places when it unleashes what the Unreal Engine 4 can do but also has a very dated artwork style in others & some very boring generic pre-rendered movies. Gameplay wise its more or less the exact same gameplay as GOW1 circa 2006 no real progression made in that respect.
Overall its playable but pretty safe + generic most of the time I struggled to play for more than an hour or so due to extreme boredom its just so dated & generic most of the time gameplay wise I do not know if I am ever going to return to it to complete as I really struggled to play through chapters 1,2,3 & I also got it free with my GPU but still struggling to find the motivation to play so I can then delete & free up the HD space used.

It's pretty much the same old Gears, yeah. That's not such a bad thing, as the formula didn't really need to be changed.
Yes, the campaign is probably the weakest so far. Those robots got old real fast.
VS multiplayer has never been my cuppa, what with the shotgun extravaganza, but Horde is where the real fun lies - assuming you don't end up with a team of nobs.

I bought it with a good friend of mine to play online co-op, as I have never played a GoW game, having only ever had a PC and a PS and I've got to say its one of the most boring, repetitive games I have ever had the displeasure of paying £40+ for.
You literally move from area to area, killing the same monsters/robots from cover over and over and over and over and over and over....oh and over....then cheesy cut scene...then back to killing the same type of mob.....they mix it up a little between acts with mob type but its incredibly simple in terms of mechanics.
I can see how maybe back when the 1st one came out how for the time it would have been great, but in my opinion its not worth the £40.
That being said my mates loves the mindless shooting, so im sticking with it till the end, so he can complete it....so some may love it.

I have to say I have found it to be the same. The campaign is meant to be fairly short I and I haven't completed it yet which is unlike me as I like to finish games when I start them. I got bored and moved onto TitanFall 2. I will eventually go back and finish this off as I don't think I have much left to do but its not something I am in a hurry to do. IMO Gears just hasn't evolved much from its original outing all those years ago.

Some kind of in game exploit where a player plants a smoke and somehow gets instant headshots with the sniper and boltok pistol.
The player was our team and killed 3 enemy players in a row one after another. This was a couple of days ago and I have just seen another doing it getting 27 headshots.
There was going to be crossplay but the coalition has delayed it due to some kind of exploit going on. They will lets us play with xbox users once they have sorted it out.
The sooner it's fixed the better, the PC population must be very low, I saw the same couple of names 4 times this week on 4 separate nights

Any game on UWP/Windows Store will always have poor MP as people aren't buying on it collectively. You just have to ask Square Enix about the disparity between Rise Of The Tomb Raider on UWP versus Steam.

Was initially really excited about this game but I'm finding the series hasn't aged well. I am talking from a campaign perspective but it is VERY repetitive.

Yea well. I was about to try the Windows Store and buy this game ... only to be confronted with the message 'this app will not work on your device'. No reason given, it just 'will not work on your device'. I clicked a few other games to see if they're willing to 'work on my device' and it would appear that I can buy any other game just fine, just not GOW4. At this stage I've lost 95% interest already. So I done some very light googling, happened upon the Microsoft website and saw the usual MS bots nonsensical replies where some other guy had the same issue, giving a completely different answer to his question. Interest gone.
Maybe one day huh

I had that with Forza Apex, did a windows update scan and it seemed to fix it.
Just bought this on offer for £25 and surprised that my GTX 970 can run it at 60fps on ultra (1080p). That said it doesn't really look that impressive, textures look kinda muddy and undetailed.
Will give it a proper chance with a longer play later.

They are both the same. I'm gussing your desktop is @ 1440P. Mine is.
If you can see a difference please let me know as I cannot.
