GeForce GTX 590 Key Features Revealed

Don't know why people always go over the top when cards like 6990 and 590 are released. They are always over priced and are just made so that amd/NV can say ive got the fastest card. Value for money has never been the object of these cards. I wonder how many of each have been made?

I can't see the 590 being over £700 unless it gives close to the performance of 580 SLI which it won't.

I'm expecting £600 - £650 assuming it just beats the 6990 performance wise.

Hogwash, balderdash, stuff and nonsense! 6990 is itself downclocked. GTX 590 will take the crown. If it couldn't NVIDIA wouldn't release.

The 6990 isnt downclocked that much and if the 590 wants to stay within 375w then proportionately the 580 cores will need to be downclocked more than the 6970 cores.

I still think the 590 will win but it will be close.

According to the site that can't be mentioned launch price price of the GTX 295 was ~£450, I know it wasnt quite 2 280 cores and vat has risen since then but even so I can't see 590 being >£700

so much guesswork in this thread, it does make me chuckle.

the red team say X........the green team say Y

only a week till launch, i am surprised that gibbo has them this early though.

I was informed this morning by a reliable source (how many times have you heard people say that!) who trades with a certain company starting with a captial 'A' that the 590 GTX would be RP'd @ £599 per unit, she goes to mention that it's also very likley that most UK re-sellers are likley to mark the pre-orders between the £630 - £650 mark (Inc). Please only take this as speculation because it's NOT yet fact, hopefully it gives you a rough estimate on how much you will need in your wallet or CC funds.

Are you the master of vague comments that don't really mean anything?

3 DVI ports.

if i can run my 3 screens off this one card i might be interested!

That's exactly why they've put 3 on it. But seriously, this is going to be one of the worst cards for price to performance ratio. It's going to be no faster than 2 6950s with unlocked BIOSes for more than double the price.

the one with really funny comments (and those are amd supporting ones) is you,its funny to see such fanboyism for peace of plastic and metal :D
every post from you is amd defending and nvidia trashing
you even said that 580 and 570 not selling well..oh dear...you must be reading lots of charlie d. "accurate" threads :p

there is no use for cards like these, exept measuring e-penis in tests and for serious overcklockers, but to buy these to play console games? no way,id better spend those money on better monitor or something else worth it
and talking about performance crown...nvidia will win probably, otherwise no point for them to release such card for second place
never been fan of 2 cards,or 2gpus on one card, waste of money and waste of cards resources - atm enough have middle end vga card and you can play everything on 1080p

atm my 580 twin frozr is performing seemingly better then my 5970 so i'll look forward to buying a second one. can't say anything for the 6*** because i havent tried them competition is good and both nvidia and ati are awesome. so i dont know why anyone would be a fanboy tbh

Just because you've never been a fan of them doesn't mean other people are the same.

Plenty of people will buy this & the 6990 because they can afford to & want the quickest single card they can get, and of a particular brand if they are that way inclined.

Not true I'm afraid.

Some people hate screen tearing & will want above 60fps constantly. No single card can achieve that in every game with max eye candy@1920x1080.

Some people enjoy stereoscopic 3d, which slaughters your framerate = more gpu grunt required.

Some people run 3 monitors at well above 1920x1080. If you look at Vega's scores here :

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18239104

580 sli fails to run WOW in dx11 above 60fps at 5760x1200.

If you hate msaa & want to use ssaa instead, where possible, then cards like this will be required.

Granted, sales will be much, much lower compared to mid-high end cards like the 560 / 6950, but there will always be a market for cards like this.

Gibbo, put up a today only deal on the pre order ;)

BTW, VRAM is important, only reason I want to upgrade is because of VRAM limitations, didnt think much about it at the time and there werent enough benches (that I saw) at 2560 res at the time. Now I am very concious about it, although 1.5gb is probably enough since so many games dont even get limited by 896 until you get to >4xAA, and I cant even see the difference on my screen tbh.

Do elaborate.

I keep to facts, just because something isn't positive about nVidia, doesn't mean it's any less valid, or that it's biased. As for thr 580 and 570 not selling well, they aren't. On this very store, the 6900s outsold the GTX500s on their day of release, and the GTX500s had been out for weeks before hand. If that's not selling very well, I don't know what is.

You seem to be confusing your own preferences with everyone elses, you may do well with a mid-range card, but you're just one example. While the GTX590 and 6990 are utter wastes of money, it doesn't mean the performance on offer isn't needed, I don't know why anyone would buy anything other than 2 6950s when they want 6990 or 580 performance (providing they can do crossfire) since the current best value for money at the moment. The 6990 and 590 will offer no more performance for significantly more money, even more so in the case of the 590. This isn't being biased, if it's true, it's true regardless of your feelings on the matter.
